Injury Caused Toenail to Rip Out of Nail Bed - Need Remedies for Healing

Posted By Andrew (Missouri) on 08/07/2021

Could I get some help?

I was stepping up near my bed and got too close and my big toenail got pulled almost off but is barely on there and I couldn't find any remedies on the website.

I was thinking comfrey which heals stuff so fast it could heal before it clears any infection but this link might give some tips that could help.

Andrew, you can put wet French Green Clay on it. Change poultice daily. Reduces pain and repairs.

I don't know about healing, but soak it. Have you trimmed off the detached nail? I don't know if it would re-attach or not. I would trim it off, soak periodically in saltwater and, when not soaking, keep it moist and wrapped for protection. Wear sandals/flip flops, not closed toe shoes. I'd probably use castor oil on a soft pad to cover the area, then wrap it so it stays clean. It seems to me the nail bed would have to toughen up some before you could back off on the treatment. Anyone else?
