I have swollen gland under the eyelid

Posted By Reeni (Jakarta, Indonesia) on 12/23/2009

I've been looking for an explanation for something that I have under my right eyelid. When I read about Chalazion, I thought this is what I must have. But saw some pictures of it and that did not look like what I have. I feel like a swollen gland under my eyelid but it is not visible like a chalazion, neither it sits on to my eye. It is in fact above the outer corner of my eye and it gives my eyelid a swollen look like a mosquito bite or a sting without any redness and without any king of pain. It is there under my eyelid for about 12 years. I tried to consult doctors in the beginning but they could not see anything wrong. one of them said it's a Stye. Does anyone knows what I am talking about??

this could definitely be a stye that just hasn't worked it's way out yet. i would put castor oil on it. my brother had this and i started him with castor oil and it went away pretty quick. just pat some on there and it doesn't hurt your eyes if you get it in them.

@Dianna from Austin, Tx. Thanks for your advise. I heard that styes hurt but mine does not, even when I press it. Could it still be a stye?

My daughter gets styes and sometimes it is just a swollen area.. nothing red or inflamed that I can see. We always take a green tea bag, soak it in warm water for 30 seconds or so, wring it out so it doesn't drip everywhere, and have her lay down with the green tea bag over her affected eye. Repeat as needed, but it usually only takes a day or two to clear up. :)

I get styes once in while and have always used a warm tea bag (from a cup of hot tea) on them-an old remedy passed from my Mom.

I had a Chalazion, and it hung around for about 3 months, until I started putting warm compresses on it.... AND without disturbing the eyeball or inside the lid, I would GENTLY massage it a bit with a dull fingernail (BUT DON'T SQUEEZE IT) just to create movement... And 4 days after I started the procedure, it was gone.... Try to understand that your body is trying to heal it for you, but it just needs a tad of help on this one.... Most of all, believe in the Law of Attraction and know it is not a big deal.... Maybe some eyedrops too, by the way.
