I have suffered from adrenal fatigue

Posted By Icraft40219 (Louisville, Ky, Usa) on 01/07/2012

I have suffered from adernal fatigue for the last few years. I have all the symptoms of my adrenal glands shutting down even though my tests have come back normal recently. I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, diabetes, memory loss, to name a few. I am overweight even though I had gastric bypass 6 yrs ago. I can not seem to lose weight no matter what I do or how hard I try. Very frustrating!!

I have read the comments on adrenal fatigue and its been very interesting but Im still @ a loss on what I should do or take.

Can someone please recommend some vitamins or something that might help?

I already take Calcium w/ Vit D, Potassium, Vit B-12 shots x 2 week, Vit B-12 complex liquid under the tongue, biotin, Vit C, Pre-Natal Vit (not preg!! I was told they were better than regular multi-vit), ferrous sulfate (have problems with anemia).

Thanks for any help,

Lisa in KY

Lisa, it seems you have a good start but a long journey until wellness. As for the adrenal fatigue, here are some common supplement recommendations: Pantothenic Acid 500 mg 1 or 2 daily, Ginseng (find suitable type and start with recommended dose on label), Raw Adrenal Glandular, L-Tyrosine (for energy production 500 mg 2 times daily). Your thyroid may also be involved, or maybe not but I would take some Iodine drops as directed on labels as many folks are deficient in this mineral.

Hope this helps and report your results.

Hi Lisa, I also suffer from weak adrenals and am just starting my healing for it (still have a long way to go). You might want to take a B-complex since multi vitamins don't have enough of what you need. I usually take more than recommended on the bottle. Also, make sure to take lots of vitamin C. I am up to 4 grams/day. I believe potassium can make the situation worse. I would try taking more unrefined salt like Celtic sea salt or Himalayan, just make sure to avoid table salt. I put salt in my water bottle and also use more on my food. My AF has also affected my thyroid so I am taking 62.5 mg of iodine in the form of Iodoral. The adrenals also need iodine. I have low iron as well and take 50 mg/day, but it is a struggle to raise my levels. I am working with a naturopath who has me on 400 mg. of Rhodiola in the AM. There are other things to take as well, but this is a good start.

Hi Icraft40219, I have adrenal fatigue. You are off to a pretty good start with the iodine, iron, B-12, Vit C, biotin, etc... I would suggest adding magnesium to support the potassium you are taking as the potassium is not able to get into your cells without the help of magnesium. You can call it the gate keeper for potassium:) Make sure it isn't already in the prenatal pill you are taking as the upper level is about 500 mg I believe. (Though I believe it depends on the type of magnesium)

I also would suggest upping your intake of Tin. Which obviously is not someting you can just pop a pill for (like iron). You can take supplements that have tin in them like Milk thistle, Senna, Licorice root, Valarian, Doggrass, Juniper, and many others which are listed on this website.

http://www.acu-cell.com/tin.html

As taken from the Website concerning heart palpatations:

Tin adrenals control the left side, and iodine thyroid control the right side.

It sounds like you already suffer from some autoimmune diseases so it is likely your thyroid may be affected too. Look into supplements that help low thyroid function and add them to your daily regime.

The key to getting your adrenals normal is de-stressing. I know it sounds impossible but it works. I have 5 kids (2 of them teenage girls), a 40 hour a week job, I help my husband run his own business, church, dog, cat, fish, birds, exercise etc... Etc... I know how hard the thought of de-stressing seems. Thats why I decided to kick off my adrenal fatigue recovery with Bikram Yoga. It is 90 minutes of 104 degree "I can't think about anything but what my body is doing and how damn hot I am" so you don't have time to worry about taxes or picking up the kids or anything but breathing and stretching:) It really really helps if you are up to it. I loved it and would have never done it had I not been diagnosed with adrenal fatigue.

Hi Lisa, I had gastric bypass 6 years ago. I am overweight too.

Pantothenic acid deficiency results in adrenal insufficiency, which is characterized by fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances, nausea, and abdominal discomfort (Tarasov et al. 1985; Smith et al. 1996; Murray et al. 1997).

The Panthotenic acid is Vitamin B5.
