I have infection under nail bed

a couple days ago my index finger just out of nowhere begin hurting extremely bad. Felt like it got smashed by door or something. I was hoping it would just go away. But everyday it got worse , then I noticed an infection underneath the nail, and realized maybe I got a splinter jabbed there somehow. So now its 2 days later and I have got a huge infection under the nail, full of pus! Im not sure what to do?! I was told to take a needle to it to drain the puss. Is that a good idea?

No! Do not do that. Try this:

Soak your hand in a solution of 50% hot (and I mean as hot as you can stand) water to epsom salts, every day, twice a day, and up to five times a day. This is a method I have used for many skin infections, including abcesses under my cat's skin (he is prone to them). This should help the infection to resolve within a few days. You might also want to take 1000mg of Ester-C 2x a day to help repair the tissue and help your immune system kill the infection. Once the infection has cleared, (and this is important... Please wait until the infection is gone or nearly so) to help work the splinter out combine a tsp of baking soda with a tbs of hydrogen peroxide. It will get under the nail bed and literally the pressure from the foam will painlessly push the splinter out. Maybe not right away, but again, 2x a day and you should see the splinter come out. The reason I say wait is due to the fact the hydrogen peroxide interfers with healing tissue.

let me know how it goes!
