Now Weaning Off Long-Term Use of a Benzodiazapine (Clonazepam) - Help!

What I hope to discover is maybe others that are familiar with the post-withdrawal probably damage done over 35 years being prescribed this drug that was for anxiety. I never knew one, little pill could be so hard to stop taking so I didn't worry and just kept taking what the doctor ordered so to speak.

A long story short, I am now in a group of folks online that are either starting to wean off a benzodiazapine, or in the middle of their journey, or in their post-withdrawal period. What I am trying to discover is what supplements might help in this sort of addiction recovery/healing, something natural as I doubt I will ever let anyone give me another prescription, knock on wood.

Alternatives are my hope and I already have a great nutritional way of life, and also exercise. I am shocked at the epidemic of folks that are hooked on benzodiazapines, and sure never thought of myself as a drug addict but I certainly am, prescription only yes, but nevertheless it's going to be 10 months, atleast for me to come down to my final dose.

It's called Liquid Titration method and it's very slow reductions done each day. I'll put a link about here, just a short video but explains in pretty well: https://youtu.be/whpciMUXHfY

Anyway, I'm looking for help in what I might supplement with, but I was told by one person I shouldn't try taking supplements while weaning off clonazepam. I don't know why he said that but I am open to hearing other recommends if anyone has something. Art Solberg was so gracious in sharing many things with me but I suspect they were bothering me to consume them because of some withdrawal symptoms I had that I just didn't realize it was withdrawal, probably not the supps.

Now I know more about the drug I've been on half of my life and I will get off it, luckily only 1 mg. I have met folks that are weaning off of many more mg than I took. If they can do it so can I :) I am hoping EC folks can help me as well,

Denise

Explore Mexidol. Also TCM Shen tonics. Call JingHerbs for a free consultation and they will advise you. How many mg you are on? Keep in mind it is a very very long process, but you know that.

I do intramuscular injections 2-3 times a year (you can't get it in the US), and take pills when I can't get the ampules.

I've found a lot and have been on no more than a 1 mg tablet all the years. I found an excellent site for others in the same or similar situations and I have started the DLMT or Daily Liquid Micro-Tapering method and it's wonderful! Lot's, a ton of info on Youtube on it, as well as benzobuddies forum, Thank you and sorry I didn't get back here but actually forgot I had posted here. Denise

I will look at your links and think I've researched on Science Direct but will check, thank you so much for your replies.

I think there is a huge stigma about conventional medicine/prescription drugs and many (I was one) were afraid to come out in the open about their conditions after taking benzodiazepines for any length of time and possibly finding themselves addicted and the drug making them worse as it did me.

Maybe some will read this and know there is no shame in not knowing about a drug a much loved physician may have prescribed. I can only suggest people do their own home-work, take responsibility for their health, along with considering a well-intentioned doctor's advice.
