Help Needed for Two Digestive Concerns

Posted By Related2glory (Jujuland) on 02/20/2016

Hey earthclinic! :)

Two concerns:

1. So ...I've had this condition on and off for some time..... "Pricking feeling after or during eating in lower to mid throat?" it usually happens with or without acid reflux bothering me at times.

2. When I'm trying to sleep usually 15 minutes in, I suddenly get awoken by a rumble/murmur/shaking in upper left abdomen. Interestingly enough It's only when I lay on my back/on my right side. The left side not so much(I rarely-to-never sleep on my left side).

I placed my hand on the area where it rumbles in the night to see if its actually my stomach or if it's my aorta/heart making the problem and it seemed more like my stomach. I do have some pains when eating food occasionally once in a blue moon on my left stomach due to acid reflux. Have any of you had these symptoms (e.g Not being able to sleep due to shocking rumble/shaking in tummy) I also don't feel any pains during the rumbles just alarming enough to get me off my back and think "what was that"

Have you ever had this feeling before? If so, what have you done about it and what might be a probable cause of the aforementioned symptoms? Thank's in advance would love some suggestions. Peace and love <3

Dear Related2glory,

It is likely that your concerns are related and that there will be one solution for both.

The easiest thing to try would be raw apple cider vinegar. A common way to take it is 1 Tablespoon in a tall glass of water once or twice a day. This helps a broad spectrum of digestive issues.

A few other ideas:

For the rumbling stomach - I have a family member with this sometimes. Activated charcoal works well for him. You could try a couple of capsules with a glass of water before bed to see if that helps. (But not if you take a prescription medication before bed. Charcoal could make medication ineffective.)

I am wondering if the prickly throat could be allergy? Is prickly "itchy?" The vinegar may help with that. You might try to notice if there is a connection between the prickly feeling and certain foods you eat.

Some other ideas that may help these issues - lighter meals (smaller portions, less fat and protein) and a supplement of digestive enzymes.

Have you ever consulted a doctor or had any tests?

I wholeheartedly appreciate your feedback.

I had went to the doctors about a year ago for the same mentioned symptoms of upper stomach rumblings at night but accompanied with stabbing pains. The doctor put me through an xray couldn't find anything wrong but he took a second look within minutes notice and came back laughing saying "Looks like there's a gas pocket in your intestine". He prescribed a pepto bismol liquid that I take once or twice a day and surprisingly enough it worked!

I'm an avid believer in ACV but what has been bothering me is chronic Acid Reflux that keeps coming back regardless even after taking ACV. So yesterday morning before leaving to the city I threw a handful of spinach leaves 6-7 asparagus spears+ chiaseed and flaxseed mix (3tsp) Probiotic kefir with 12 live active good bacteria(Billions of CFU Good bacteria colonies) to help balance my stomach and gut bacteria from bad into good and then added lots of water and a hint of milk and Organic black seed/honey/Ajwa date seed mixture into the blender and took sips of it all day till the end of the evening. Surprisingly it worked to hit down my acid reflux all the while allowing me to eat 3 whole big meals! So I think there might be a stomach bacteria balance issue mixed with either a dis-balance in the spleen and or pancreas which all needs to be re-balanced with proper sleeping 8-9 hours and a good diet free of stimulants that can cause chaos inside my body while it heals. Also ate 2 garlic cloves early in the morning just to be sure and seemed to work fine after the slight fever started to kick in. But today when I was waking up after 5 minutes of the wakening stage of my sleep I felt the rumble starting to "TRY" to kick in (lol) which made me feel uncomfortable but nevertheless it didn't succeed meaning it might be an acute infection/inflammation to a general stomach issue needing a fix by eating healthy foods(eg. Lots of fiber/greens/fruits) and proper sleep.

Related, I've actually read that the best way to sleep, for better digestion, is precisely on one's left side.....

Possibly it is? Then again I have also heard the right side may be the best side to sleep on because it does not put stress onto the heart and the blood flow that the liver needs is pushed towards it when sleeping on the right. Who's to say which side is better? For me it's more of a personal thing due to the fact I have always felt more sleepy on my back or right side than my left :). Is there any other benefits when sleeping on the left side?
