Dear Sana,
The elderly are pretty prone to dehydration. A body being mildly dehydrated can make pain worse. A body in an acidic state will also feel pain more acutely.
One solution for both of the above problems is an alkalizing drink a couple of times a day (in addition to other fluids.) 1 Tablespoon Raw Apple Cider Vinegar or Fresh Lime or Lemon Juice plus 1/4 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate (baking soda.)
If baths are a possibility, 1 cup of epsom salt in a warm bath may also be helpful. Massaging the pained areas with castor oil will sometimes bring pain relief.
Do check out the posts on the link that Timh sent. So many good ideas there! I hope she sees improvement soon!
