Help Needed for Daughter with Progesterone Allergy

Posted By Elizabeth (Washington, Usa) on 10/27/2016

My daughter has rare allergy to progesterone and has life threatening episodes due to this. She is 13yrs old. This started about a year ago. They are not sure how to treat her. They confirmed allergy with giving dose and she went into anaphylactic shock. We were in the ICU when they gave it to her wondering if anyone knows what might help. Thank You for any suggestions we are desperate

E: I wonder why she is given Progesterone in the first place, seems she has other conditions you haven't mentioned so it is hard to give any advise.

Progesterone is either synthetic or plant derived. When the body first receives it, it can open estrogen ports in the body and create an estrogen dominance response. Many women have to wade through this period of time to get to the balanced hormone stage when trying new hormone creams. My daughter was given a progesterone patch as an adult and had menstrual bleeding that lasted a year. It was synthetic. I would study. Dr. John Lee is a good starting place. Vitamin D from sunlight is also a hormone and other vitamins help regulate hormones

She is allergic to her OWN hormones. It started last Oct and anaphylaxis occurs when her own progesterone level increases. Then her monthly period comes. 2 weeks later when she ovulates. And levels change she has reaction again. She was not recieving synthetic progesterone. They put her in the hospital to test and then gave her a minute amt. She went into shock and we had a definite answer of her rare allergy to progesterone. They are now trying to desensitizatize her. I am a RN. just looking for a way to get her body to not react. They have labeled it APD That results in anaphylactic reaction. Most women only have skin issues. Hers is more severe

As a young woman I was allergic to my own progesterone . I would get a very large lump in the arm pit each month before my period and had to see an MD due to the level of pain it was causing. There are two problems which can trigger hormone disruption. One, Liver/Gut issues particularly cholestasis or gallstones. This causes a decrease in bile which causes a decrease in fat absorption/digestion. The immediate remedy for this is ACV (I like the tablets over drinking it) and supplementing Methionine & B12/Folic Acid. A supplement of Artichoke Leaves Extract would also help both Liver and Gallbladder function.

Two, going back to the fats, the remedy in this situation is increasing Omega 3's like Fish & Krill Oil by supplementation or eating regular Salmon, Mackerel, Sardines. Borage & Evening Primrose Oils are also very beneficial in correcting hormone disturbances.
