Heart Sensations After Taking Diuretic

Posted By Marsh (Colorado) on 05/28/2025

After having SSCD (inner ear) surgery 3yrs ago, more recent tests revealed my inner ear is inflammed causing constant whoosh noise and occasional frequencies of tinnitus. ENT prescribed diuretics in September, stopped due to side effects; serc betahistaine then prescribed. Ear issues excerbated. ENT suggested minimizing salt. Within 3 weeks, it felt like someone was pushing their finger into my chest/heart area, faintness, headaches. An RN friend asked if ENT said to replace loss of minerals with potassium and electrolytes. No, but I started and within a week was feeling much better. The problem now is that I'm experiencing occasional: light sensation of a vibration (seems like the lower part of heart or chest), a little light-headedness and feeling like my heart skips a beat every so often. Had an EKG and CT scan this month and all was fine - CT showed no plaque. Thoughts?

[As a sidenote, my family and I have had high cholesterol. I've been able to lower mine by having red meats occasionally, eliminated wheat and went gluten free, healthy veggies and fruits. When visiting Italy, friends there said I could eat pasta & breads due to their white soft wheat (the US has red, hard wheat) and lack of bromine. My husband's cousin works in a 'lab', said gluten is extracted from wheat, sent to another plant, and it returns as a large glutenous block resembling tofu to increase shelf life. I left a loaf of wheat bread next to the furnace for 3 months, and no mold. Bromine is added to wheat in the states but banned in Europe. It's linked to headaches, memory loss, skin issues, and more. Hope RFK Jr. bans it.
