Seeking Remedies to Heal & Remineralize Tooth Cavity

Posted By Parsnip (Ontario Canada) on 04/10/2026

Hello, I'm curious if there is a remedy that will support healing and remineralizing a tooth cavity. It is on the left side of my mouth, on my bottom molar. There is no pain. But I did notice it twice now, I just had a little bit of sensitivity while brushing. No other complaints so far. I can see a very light black circle on it, and it does seem to be a little bit indented. It's not sticky, so as far as I am aware, this does not seem like a super active cavity; however, I could be wrong.

I really don't want to have a filling, as I've dealt with cavities all my life. I don't really want to go through x-rays and an anesthetic again, and the drilling of my tooth. I'm hoping to remineralize it on my own.

Hello Parsnip

I rinse my mouth occasionally or as needed with some 3% peroxide diluted in some water.

I have found that it kills the cavity causing bacteria and will neutrolize any cavities present.

I have not been to dentist in over 30 years and my teeth are cavity free.

I only brush once per day with sodium bicarbonate, and rarely floss.

I sometimes chew on a small piece of turmeric as it is good for teeth and gums.

As for rebuilding tooth, I have tried many things, but no success to date.

Over and out

Hi Parsnip,

You can try hydroxyapatite toothpaste. It can remineralize the teeth and potentially reverse a cavity, but only at the earliest stages of the cavity.

Howdy Parsnip,

You might want to look into Xylitol, brushing your teeth with xylitol toothpaste, rinsing with xylitol mouth wash and chewing gum like Pur brand containing only xylitol will kill dental carries and regenerate tooth enamel. Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol in all plants but highest amounts in tree bark, it's extracted into Xylitol (looks and tastes just like sugar) or fermented to Eurythinol. you can search online for xylitol toothpaste, mints, gum and mouthwash lots of companies sell it, you can also buy it to use in place of sugar on walmart, amazon, etc.... it's about $10 for 8oz, then you can use that to make your own toothpaste and mouthwash.

Dear Parsnip,

We were able to remineralize my son's teeth when he had two cavities in his front baby teeth. He was 4 at the time. We use black walnut tincture. I put one dropperful of the tincture in a tablespoon of water or so. He would swish that around his mouth for 20 seconds then swallow it. It took a few weeks.

Children's teeth are easier to heal, especially if they are well nourished. I have found adults take longer to heal. If you try the black walnut, look into supplementing with a cod liver oil.

Dr. Christopher has a tooth powder that may be helpful as well. I have bought it on Amazon.

I agree about the xylitol suggestion. It is something my daughter's orthodontist recommended to prevent cavities while she was in braces. I buy Trident with xylitol by the case at Sam's club. :)

Hi Parsnip, I was seeing a dentist about 6 years ago for a cleaning and identified a cavity, also had x-rays. (Then covid) I finally went back recently for one of my 3 cleanings a year and the significant cavity from my chart was completely gone! Now, the only thing I do differently is I brush my teeth and toung once or twice a day with a pasty mixture of coconut oil, baking soda, pearl powder and a few drops of peppermint oil. After rinsing, I use a 4oz brown glass spray bottle of chlorine dioxide solution (3000 ppm, this strength does not bother me. You can dilute it however you'd like with distilled water)and spray 20 pumps into the mouth, (that approximately 1 or 2ml) holding and swishing for about a minute and swallowing. You can spit it out. That's just what I do, I have a septic system that I don't want to disrupt. As you can imagine he was perplexed. He also asked which dentist I had been seeing. I answered none! I tried explaining the cds routine to him while he was working on me, but that's about 5 seconds and he's got his fingers back in my mouth. Lol So, when he was done, found nothing, said you have the youngest looking mouth for a 63 year old that I have ever seen! Keep swishing with what ever that crap is! Lol 😆
