Having side effects after two hip replacements

Posted By Ian (Perth, Australia) on 12/29/2014

Hi Ted from Bangkok,

I have both my hips replaced after finding out I had degeneratitive osteo arthritis. I then started to get a hot feeling down my right hip following the line of my femoral artery to my knee. This sometimes gets uncomfortable, but I can get a sleep at night.

I have been referred to a neuro surgeon and had my spine checked and an MRI scan. Nothing to report but I have great flexibility in my body for a 51 year old. So I was prescribed Cymbalta by the surgeon but it played havoc with my urinating, so I stopped it.

The hot feeling sometimes goes down my leg and is now over in the other leg. During the day I can feel the heat in my waist and hips. When I move around it's not too bad, but I really don't want to take prescribed medication. I keep myself fit but I am also a workaholic and only find releif when I sleep. When I get up in the morning the hot feeling starts again.

I am an active walker and practice yoga.

At this stage I am hesitant to go to the doctors because they will put me on drugs and would rather try an alternative.

I have been told about Magnessium and Zinc and that it helps this ailment. I take a a B12 that I got in Pattaya called micolobin, I think. I can find out the name and get back to you. I also take fish oil and glucosamine 500

Not much has happened as I have been on it for two months and take one a day 50mg.

So at this stage I am looking for something that may give me releif....can you help.

With thanks, Ian

Ian, have you tried Epsom Salt baths and/or rubbing magnesium oil (magnesium chloride with water) on?
