Have diabetes and smelly feet

Posted By Xari (Philippines) on 05/29/2014

Hi, Need help! Asap! Im working at a callcenter 6 days a week with an airconditioned room and my mates noticing the smell on my feet. I inherited diabetes from my parents and I don't know if the odor was also related to it, I don't know what to do. After I consulted a doctor about the diabetes it started after few weeks I began taking the medication. My feet began to smell like I don't know how to express it, I'm so uncomfortable and disgusted because all of my family doesn't have this! I've already done all the things that were suggested, advice such as talcom powder, deodorants, hot water, brush feet 2x a day and also using green tea! My feet still stink, hope you can give home remedies or anything that you think will be very effective!
THANK YOU!

Dear Xari,

If it started after you began the medication, I would wonder if it were the medication. I wonder if there is an alternative medication you can take?

Meanwhile, here are some other thoughts:

Always wear cotton socks. Preferable white.

Wear shoes that breathe. (Sandals or canvas, etc.)

Soak feet 15 minutes each night. Try 1/2 vinegar (just white distilled) and 1/2 water. Try 1/4 cup epsom salt dissolved in water. Hopefully one of these might help.

Drink plenty of water. At least 2 quarts a day. You can add a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar to each glass of water. This helps with many conditions and may help with what you are dealing with.

You can try activated charcoal. 1 teaspoon in a glass of water each night. (But not within two hours of medication.) It will adsorb odors/toxins etc. from the body.

These are the first things I would try. If you see no improvement in a couple of weeks, there are other things you can try.

Let us know how it goes!
