Have delicate hearing

Posted By Reyna (New York, NY) on 05/19/2009

I'm interested in finding out about what might help to fortify the delicate hearing-mechanisms against the barrage of audio mayhem that is a day in the middle of NYC. I'm sure that there are holes in my nutrition, and I wanted to see specifically if I am failing to feed my ears.

Beyond earplugs and safe headphones, are there any recommendations for ear-friendly foods or even supplements that might be worth investigating to help my ears survive the noise?

you may want to google vitamin and check this out From Science Daily:

"in a new study in animals, University of Michigan researchers report that a combination of high doses of vitamins A, C, and E and magnesium, taken one hour before noise exposure and continued as a once-daily treatment for five days, was very effective at preventing permanent noise-induced hearing loss. The animals had prolonged exposure to sounds as loud as a jet engine at take-off at close range."

be careful with A it can be toxic in large doses

For hearing problems we have found that essential oils 50/50 helicrysum/sweet birch, has healed hearing loss. This oil is quite expensive, we found it for $120. oz. My boyfriend who is 69 years old, rubs a little inside and around the ear. For the first few weeks he did it daily, now once or twice a week is all he needs. His hearing was so bad that he would have the tv volume up totally, and still could not hear it, now its at normal levels. Hope this helps.

I'd check a health food store, or the internet for these essential oils. We get ours from our chiropractor, who has a local distributor. Like I said they are expensive, but so are hearing aids. I'd be careful not to find cheap oils, they could be deluded, or poor quality. Also at first he only put it around the outside of the ear, (rubbing it in, in front and behind) for a few days, then inside the ear as well (it burns a little inside). We probably would not have tried them, but we were feeling desperate. A month later his hearing was normal. They worked wonders!

Hi Theresa, Would you be so kind as to tell me specifically where to get this 50/50 essential oil. You mention your chiropractor's distributor. Could you provide me his email. Thanks, Ana

Hi,

You might want to try B&B formula for hearing loss and tinnitus. It helped me a lot with tinnitus
