How old is your grandson? How often does this happen? Has he seen a pediatrician about it?
I have seen Nettles help immensely for allergy related rashes. Since Benadryl seems to help, it seems like Nettles could be a solution. Taken over a period of time, Nettles seemed to cure on of my children of his allergies.

I would suggest discontinuing those cheap fiberglass filters and use a more sturdy replacement like a "permanent" or "reusable" fiberglass filter. If you see no improvements w/ this filter drop it as well as any fiberglass type and use HEPA, or filterless units like Negative Ion or Ozone Purifiers or Generators.
Oral Zinc & Vit-A supplementation in combination w/ MTM's Nettles suggestion will prove much more effective in relieving symptoms.
A hot bath w/ 1/4 cup Epsom Salts and 1/4 cup Baking soda for 30 min -to- 1 hr will detox the body of any inorganic particulates like supposed fiberglass.

Re; your grandson's rashes
When ever I hear a description of a mystery disease before I go off in all directions I ask to eliminate the "usual suspects"....virus and other pathogens.
If mine I'd administer Colloidal Silver twice daily...quantity adjusted for age. If in a week the rashes are reduced, then the problem just might be a specialty virus.
BTW...when did he start this rash problem? If from birth that is one thing but if at a certain time of onset, think carefully what was going on that might have caused it? I always ask if a very significant infection immediately preceded the onset. If so, then the odds are increased that the culprit is a virus.
