Getting more and more tonsil stones

Posted By Celeste (Narbonne, France) on 07/01/2009

Hi everyone! I am getting more and more tonsil stones or what i call "smelly balls". I think i have holes in my tonsils that fill with decaying food or pus. When the hole is full, a little yellow ball comes out, and eeew, it stinks. What are these "smelly balls"? And how does one cure them? I'd love to see what Ted thinks about this situation as he didnt mention the "smelly balls" as one of the resons one could have bad breath. I am also eager to get anyone's info and experieces with this. Thank you!

I've had tonsil stones for 40 years; had my tonsils removed twice and still have the stones. My breath is terrible but doctors can't seem to find anything or a cure. I was told to eliminate all dairy products from my diet, so I'm in the process of doing that. In the meantime, what else can I use to get rid of bad breath? Please help!

I hope this helps. What you need is a water pick, mirror with a stand, small flashlight, hydorgen peroxide, water and sink. What I use is a water pick, get the good kind so that it will shoot water to your tonsil at a strong rate. In the containner I mix in hydrogen peroxide with water, 1:3 ratio. When I do this I have a mirror infront of me and a small flashlight too see that I do get the tonsils and all it's crevices. You don't have to constantly look at a mirror, you just check to see that you are flushing your tonsils. do this over the sink. I do this 2-3 times a week, and I also OP 2 times or so a week. This is what works for me and it's great. Also remember to floss your teeth and brush your tongue. I use a strong bristle tooth-brush for my tongue, and softbrush for teeth. I try to do this at night or in the mornings if I have the time.

Same problem here! I suffered with this problem since childhood and still do if I'm not diligent in my mouth care routine.

After each meal...

1) To remove the stones, I carefully swab around my tonsils with a cotton swab.

2) With a tongue scraper, remove any white fuzz that collects at the back of my tongue. I have to reach pretty far. With a soft bristled tooth brush, I try to remove any white that the scraper left behind. I stick my tongue out as far as I can, then brush starting at the back moving the brush forward to the tip of my tongue. Rinse toothbrush and repeat until white is gone.

3)Then gargle with diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide (2 teaspoons of peroxide with 2 teaspoons of water). When gargling, I tilt my head back all the way and stick my tongue out far to ensure that the solution reaches the back of my tongue and tonsils. Careful not to swallow any or choke on it.

4) Brush my teeth. Rinse and gargle with plain water like a mad person after so no peroxide is left behind.

I still get the occasional tonsil stone but not as frequently and surprisingly not nearly as foul as before. It can take me 15 minutes to complete this but it's worth it. Bad breath is gone as long as I do this after every meal. Snacking on certain foods (cheese for sure)and coffee in between meals usually brings the breath back so I try not have either between meals.

I wish it didn't take me 29 years to find this secret. Thank you Earth Clinic with all my heart. I would have never discovered the peroxide trick without this site.

I TRIED ALL OF THE ABOVE WITH LITTLE RESULTS. I'VE BEEN APPLYING GLYCERIN TO MY TONGUE AND TEMP. TURNS MY TONGUE PINK, BUT THEN AFTER A FEW HOUR TONGUE IS COATED WHITE WITH BAD BREATH. VERY FRUSTRATING... I HAVE ISOLATED MYSELF FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY DUE TO BAD BREATH. I AM PRAYING ON IT NOW...

Indigo I live in nyc also and have been battling this problem for several years. what are you currently trying? I'm planning to start a fast tomorrow to see if it'll at least reduce the odor. My biggest problem is how far it extends -- I don't even have to talk it comes from my nose as well as mouth.

Have you tested for H Pylori? After the fast I also plan to look in to the gluten free diet if fasting doesn't help.
