Fungus on Index Finger Since 2006

Hello Ted, I hit my index finger on the bathroom wall while wearing an acrylic nail back in Sept of 2006. At that time I cut the acrylic nail off and cut my nail back because of discoloration. Thinking it would grow back normal. My finger hasn't been the same since. When it started to grow back thick with dry brittle skin under the nail and separation of the nail plate from the nail bed . My finger is still in this condition today. I keep the nail cut really low it doesn't hurt to cut down,,but if i try to flake off the brittle skin under the nail it hurts if i cut to low. I've researched ONYCHOMADESIS & ONYCHOLYSIS . I think it leans toward Onychomadesis then Onycholysis because due to being caused by trauma. Can you please help me?? I've tried all the nail fungus remedies but they didn't work.

Hi, Have you tried Vicks Vapo Rub? It contains thymol, which is a strong anti-fungal.
