Friend in last stage of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Hi just found out that my friend is suffering from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and is at it's last stage. He's on the normal doctor's medicacation, he's also diabetic. Been told he would need a transplant, but my friend is not too happy with having a transplant. Could someone please help and suggest remedies that could prolong his life. Thank you
