The Fight Against Mites is Tiring Me Out

Posted By Tenchains (Lake Orion, Mi) on 05/15/2015

I have had mites since 10-2014. I got a used bed from freecycle and that is when all the fun began. I have had some success beating them back. I was prescribed Inverectim from the Dermatologist did not seem to help much. I was almost out of the woods it seemed but got a new used bed. I am back to the air mattress. Last night they bit me up. I have to pay for laundry so it gets trying to wash the bedding. If I had my own washer/dryer I would wash daily. The dry sauna 20 mins a day is killing them, but tiring me out too. I shampoo daily with tea tree oil mint shampoo, and conditioner. I use the peroxide/borax solution for my eyes I found on this site. I wash my stuff in borax. I bought a fogger, and cedar oil. But the oil is quite pricey, and I am out for awhile. Should I go back to the dermatologist? I was doing okay I thought. Last night was a wake u call to wash the bedding as much as possible I guess. It just is costly.

I self diagnosed myself with Demodex Mites and this is what I did about it:

I used borax water (1/2 by volume) and ACV (1/2 by volume) to get rid of the eggs under the skin. The ACV is the carrier, the borax washes the protective coating off of the eggs, and they die.

I used to shower every day (sometimes twice) and finish off with the above solution.

Wash, towel off, then rub the solution all over (including scalp and hair) and DO NOT RINSE. Air-dry your skin for about 5-10 minutes, then get dressed.

I stopped itching in a couple of weeks. I don't remember how long the adult mites live, but I put all of my efforts into getting rid of the eggs.

How to make the borax water: put 1/8 cup of borax in a gallon container of water, give it a good hard shake, and let it sit for about half an hour. The water will absorb all of the borax it can and you needn't worry about any left at the bottom of the container.

Susan, you are not quite doing it right and it might not work with your recipe, for two reasons :

- with 1/8 teaspoon borax you should use 2 pints or 1 liter water. A gallon makes too weak a solution.

- borax DOES NOT dissolve in cold water which means that what is left at thé bottom is actually much of what you used and need.

First dissolve in some hot water then add cold water.

Cheers.

Hi, the ACV and Peroxide sounds like a solution, but am wondring if it's not too harsh on the skin.

My infestation started while I had a lice infestation which I got from my 7 year old daughter. I am over 40 and this is the first I am learning about human having mites living in their skin.

I found out I have mites after shaving my head along with my 3 daughters, but even with a shave scalp I was still had the feeling on crawling on my scalp. I later took a picture with my phone and later saw my hair follicle all congested with a white stuff that resembled that of the stuff that come out a white head. I have been treating with many different stuff, but mostly with Tea tree oil, clove, citronella and and a citrus oil I made myself. I have stayed completely away from the Sun for more than 8 years, so now I try to get a Lil sun each day.

At first I was only treating my scalp as I only felt crawling there, but now but right after I started treating my scalp with TTO I start feel a Lil crawling everywhere. I am treating my entire body for almost 3 weeks. Could you tell me if it is a good thing that the mites are coming out from everywhere or, is my condition worsening? Could it be that they are running away from my scalp due to the treatment?
