Female 32 with years of perioral dermatitis

Posted By Annab (London, Uk) on 11/05/2010

I'm a 32 year old female & have had PD for 5yrs now. It comes and goes and I've been on lymacycline on and off for about 3yrs which def seems to help, but isnt curing it. At the min I keep getting lots of little pupsicles (pus) coming out the 2 corners below my mouth, some days it clear but yesterday 8 appeared, and always the same area. I want to come off the medication and try something else as obv the problem is still lying dormant. I'm worried about trying ACV and Yogurt in case it makes it worst because my case is quite mild however these pus spots that come out and the redness crushes my confidence so much and makes me feel ugly. Its really quite distressing and def has a big impact on my quality of life. I would really appreciate any recent advice/posts of cure as been reading the posts as most posts are quite old. Many thanks. Anna

Give Grapefruit Seed Extract or (GSE) a try. I had dermatitis break out on the left side of my nose that NOTHING would take care of. I applied some GSE to the area at night for a week and the dermatitis was greatly reduced. It's been 2 months and I haven't had it come back yet. Yay!

Hi, thanks for your help. I tried buying it today from our local health shop but they didnt have any in stock, and said they normally only sell the supplements which I'm assuming is not the right thing. How do I apply this, do I need to dilute etc. In the past few days it seems to be getting worst, and the redness is back, it looks like a bad nappy rash but on my face. Not good :(

I had perioral dermatitis last year for a few months. I was given a topical antibiotic from my Dr. which eventually did work, but caused some skin issues elsewhere! Finally got rid of those by taking flax oil and turmeric pills. Just the other day I noticed some signs of it returning after over a year. I tried something I already had in the house-Burt's Bees parsley blemish stick. It's natural and has tea tree oil, calendula extract, borage, parsley, etc. 2 days later-skin is all clear! This may not help a severe case of perioral dermatitis, but would be worth a try.
