Fathers prognosis and treatment

Posted By Vicky (New Delhi, India) on 07/23/2012

Hello Ted, My father (61 yrs of age) was diagnosed with stage IV intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma a month ago which has infiltrated the liver. I would like to hear from you that whether the treatments given to him (normal & alternative) are favorable or not and what do you suggest as further course of action. Below is his medical history.

A drastic weight loss and pain in his abdomen made us get his PET CT Scan done which showed multiple lesions spread all over the liver, some part in abdomen, chest and pleural effusion. The biopsy made it clear that cancer is primarily from the intrahepatic bile duct of the liver.

He underwent only 1 chemo (mild doze - 800 mg of gemcitabine) after which his bilirubin started to shoot up from 4 to 12.

Symptoms as on today's date -

  • Jaundice from last 20 days. Bilirubin reached 12 but now on decreasing trend reported 5.95 today
  • Ascitis Fluid retention in abdomen and legs
  • DVT in left leg (with red blotchy patches on skin)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Throw back feeling sometimes
  • Elevated liver enzymes like Gamma GT - 569, SGOT - 105, ALP - 546
  • Protein is 5.9 and albumin is 2.3

Allopathic treatments Ursocol SR, Heptran, Daflon, Tremadol, Metformin, Lasilactone, Domstol, Fibrovas, Amlodac

Alternative treatments

  • Lemon baking soda (recipe as suggested on your blog)
  • Lemon barley water
  • Coconut water
  • Garlic juice
  • Radish leaf juice
  • Milk Protein powder (powder stopped from last 3 days)
  • Wheat grass
  • Docs tell that it is hard to treat this cancer but after rigorously surfing the internet we believe alternate therapies will give him a new life and hope to our family.

Waiting in anticipation for your comments / advise.

Note: He has been a cardiac patient for the last 15 yrs also suffering from diabetes and piles.

    Thanks, Vicky

Vicky, sorry to read about your father. Kindly see Dr. Budwig's protocol, it mainly suggests the use of extra virgin flax seed oil, cottage cheese and grounded flax seed. It is quite a useful protocol. Baldev

Hi Vicky, Your father has gone through a lot. I hope this small thing at least helps with the piles. Witch hazel root, (hamamelis virginiana) made into a tea, about 1 tablespoon to a mug of water, on low boil for 15 - 20 minutes can be helpful. It's an astringent. If not, an herbal cream from the UK may help, or you may have something similar in Delhi. It's called Pilewort Cream and it contains pilewort (ranunculus ficaria) and horse chestnut (aesculus hippocastanum) tinctures, calendula (calendula officinalis) and witch hazel. I've put the Latin names in parentheses in case the common names are different in India. Also, a good Chinese or other herbalist can put him on a protocol that will help him withstand the heavy drug regimin.

Good wishes to you and your family during this time.

Hi vivek, I did read about this protocol but my father isn't able to tolerate even a tinch of spice nowadays. He is mainly on liquid diet. Occasionally he takes eggs. But do u know anyone who tried this?

Hi Vicky, I used baking soda combined with an alkaline diet to reverse my liver cancer. According to Dr. Young, the author of the book the pH Miracle, raw vegetables like cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, radishes and avocados are highly alkaline. Dr. Oz said the spices coriander and turmeric and bitter greens like spinach, endive and arugula help heal the liver.
