Seeking Thoughts on Extermination to Treat Bird Mite Infestation

I am at the point of just doing a basic extermination fogging of my whole apartment, then following up with many of the remedies mentioned Also Cedar Bug Free has a cedar product to spray that works but you have to use it every day and that gets expensive, they also ar ein Hawaii and the shipping is expensive, but I am going to follow up the toxic extermination with that, and as for my skin, I am good just bathing, using tea tree products, it's just my environment keeps producing them and we keep getting them on us, and my cats probably have them too, but when we exterminate they are going for a bath and a boarding with a friend, or a cat clinic.

I think I have a combo of dust mites, rodent mites, and possibly bird mites, but there really aren't many birds around, but they may have infested a loft in one of my rooms a long time ago when pigeons used to roost on my AC. We took the loft down and there was a lot of dust, also under a closet with a false floor my husband opened it up and found a lot of dust, Since then the whole apartment just got worse, it used to be just in that one room . But in 2009 a mouse was killed by my then cat in my bedroom but we did not discover it for a few days until the smell made me look, and I found it under a dress that had fallen on top of it. 9 months later we had a flea/and mite infestation, I put the cat to sleep because he was real sick from it. He was old too. but it broke my heart.

Now I don't know if that infestation is still what is going on. Anyway, some of the things I put in the bath are Skin so Soft mixed with Eucalyptus and or Lavender Essential Oils, I use a lot of tea tree soaps, and also lotions. But the dust mite rashes and dry heaving is what I am experiencing now, so I am desperate enough to have a exterminator come in just to try it out.

Any comments on that from anyone? I realize he will use toxic products, but I intend to keep the cats and us away from the house for at least 24-48 hours at which time we will clean the place up before they return. Good luck to all of you sufferers, this ailment totally takes over and interrupts one's life, and makes you feel like a leper as well, it is so embarrassing and other people totally do not get it, doctors included.

I would confirm and be sure that they are bird mites. I say that because it can affect which pesticide, if any, should be used. Some things to consider is that the residue of pesticides can last as long as the expiration date of the product. You will be breathing/absorbing those chemicals for some time. That in turn can aggravate asthma, allergies, and multiple chemical sensitivity. It can wreak havoc on your immune system, which needs to be optimized dealing with what you have. I deal with Morgellons/bugs associated with it and after using household pesticides, it only agitated them they reproduced even more as an "emergency" mechanism. They also seemed to have changed and became more active. Bird mites could be different but alternatives include all natural, non-toxic enzyme cleaners made from yeast. I hear that for birdmites, Nature's Eradicator works best and best bang for the buck. You can also try Kleen Green, Tweetmint, Kleen Free..in that order. Spray as much as you want and it won't do harm to your family. Exterminators have IPM methods of eradication, it doesn't hurt to ask whether or not they have non-toxic methods.
