Experiencing a carbon dioxide smell with every inhalation

Carbon dioxide like smell on inhalation:

Hi all, anyone ever experienced this: for some days now, I have been having this scary CO2 like smell when I breathe in. Initially I thought it was just in the house, but it is following me everywhere. Interestingly, when I cover my nose with my hands or clothes, I do not smell the co2.

EC: Hi Olisa,

You might want to call the gas company and have them come check the house as soon as possible just to be sure. Some lawn fertilizers also smell like natural gas after application.

I have a similar type thing. I do not think it is from the outside. Seems to be a "sensation" inside my nasal cavity. Sometimes it is stronger than others. I do not have gas in my house and the "sensation" goes everywhere with me.

Hi. I have been having cigarette smoke for last couple months. Driving me crazy. Called phantosmia. Did yours ever clear up? Any updates? Advice? Losing my mind

Patrick, it's mind over matter. I've had it off and over the years. And yes, its a cigarette smoke smell, and no one around me is smoking! A doctor is certainly not going to have an answer. They probably think we are making it up. I have learned to live with it. Don't let it get you to the point of hurting yourself! Yes you should try what someone suggested about the food grade peroxide inhalation therapy. I haven't tried it. I usually use plain old saline. If it gets unbearable, just pretend someone is smoking a cigarette near you. I have sometimes felt like yelling at whoever it is to please put out their cigarette! Ha. Life is funny.
