Eighty Year Old Needs Ideas to Help Hydrocephalus

Posted By Elmo (Florida, USA ) on 07/23/2015

I've read your article on hydrocephalus (excess fluid) on the brain. Which one of the herbs would you recommend for an 80 year old?

Thanks.

Dear Elmo,

Do you know the cause of your hydrocephalus? Do you have any other significant health problems?

If you were my Dad (who is in his 80's), the herbs from the list that I would start with would be burdock root, beets and turmeric.

Burdock Root is a gentle herb but quite powerful. It is used as a food in some cultures. You should be able to find capsules in a health food store. When I was taking it, I took 4 capsules twice a day, with a meal. (I think breakfast and lunch.)

You could try to have some beets (canned ok) with dinner each night.

Turmeric is great for inflammation and a wonderful blood purifier. After a week of burdock root and beets, you could add in some turmeric. (I wouldn't add too many things at once, because if something is bothering you, you won't know which one it is.)

With any health condition, it is good to make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Also, epsom salt baths are excellent for countless conditions. 1 cup of epsom salt in a warm bath for 20 minutes three times a week, or more often if desired.

Please let us know how you are doing.
