Eczema Remedies

Posted By Sp (Wb, New Jersey, Usa) on 10/06/2012

When I read someone post this, "Since taking extra virgin coconut oil and ACV my energy levels have improved so much within one week of taking it plus I have been feeling calm and not angry anymore", it prompted me to say that I have had the opposite reaction. I tried taking 1 T of ACV (with the mother) in water in the morning for a few days but I had to stop. Besides the heartburn (usually not a problem I have, since I avoid foods that cause me heartburn) lasting all day long, it made me so angry that I could barely control myself. It was a horrible way to feel and no way to live. I don't do well with vinegary foods and I can not drink wine on an empty stomach, they all give me an upset stomach. I've just read so much promoting ACV here that I thought I'd give it a try.

And I believe that even using coconut oil for cooking is what has been aggravating the horrendous unbearable eczema I have been living with for nearly a year now. If I take it straight, I get terrible abdominal pains. I recently started cooking with it again and I am now going through a relapse of what I thought I was finally healing from - horrible eczema, this time mainly on the undersides of my arms, my sides and my lower legs. It itches (basically non-stop), it hurts, it's disgusting to look at, it's making life so unpleasant that it moves me to tears. I don't know what to do. I've been trying various things, (alkalizing, probiotics, enzymes) that help a little bit and I was slowly getting better, then I stupidly started using the coconut oil again and I think that's what brought on another major round of it. Or was it the addition of a kelp tablet a day? And it didn't just clear up when I stopped using the coconut oil and kelp. I'm at my wits end.

Also, I recently tried taking ALA and it made me feel bad and gave me dark thoughts. When I stopped I felt better the next day.

If there are any eczema experts that can offer any helpful info I'd appreciate it. I do not have a white coated tongue or vaginal discharge. And if anyone can seriously recommend a doctor in NYC I'd appreciate it. None of the ones I've seen have been helpful and currently I have no health ins. so I can't just keep trying one after another out of the phone book, so to speak.

Hi, I am the one who had experienced more energy and definately feeling calmer since taking ACV and VCO. Calmer and less angry because I have energy to to house chores and take my kids to park which I use to struggle a lot and acid reflux as well. It's may be different in your case may be you have more acid in your stomach and I was lacking that acid that was causing me burning pain in my stomach. You had no idea how much I was scared to take ACV because I thought I had already too much acid in me but I just took it one day and felt my stomach feeling relaxed and pain just went away. I was amazedwith the fact that what nexium couldn't do it simple ACV did it. I had never had any skin Problem so I can't tell anything about it and haven't noticed any changes in my skin apart from my face doesn't look tired as it use to be.

So all I can suggest is to try alkaline food. But I have heard ACV turn into alkaline in your body.

Can you tell me about probiotic you are taking? Is it some medication like inner Plus or something else. I am really interested in starting taking that.

Take care and I will pray for your good health and yes my English is not very good as you can tell.

Hi Dee, thank you for responding. I am drinking lemon juice and 1/2 t baking soda in water in the morning, lemon in water during the day, sometimes baking soda in water before bed. This has been helping a little. I eat a lot of vegetables. I always have. Regarding the probiotic, the one I take is a capsule that is acidophilus with pectin. It has four strains in the acidophilus blend. It has 3 billion live cells per capsule, at time of manufacture. I take one with breakfast and one with dinner. And I have started eating whole milk yogurt, usually for breakfast. I can't stand the taste of sauerkraut or other fermented vegetables, I just can't. But if you like that stuff it's another good way to get beneficial bacteria. Do a little research, it seems to me that probiotics are beneficial for everyone. Get one that has billions in it as they all don't survive by the time you get the bottle and take them and then make it through your system. PS, your English is fine!

Hi Anonymous, thank you for responding. I am allergic to seafood, so no krill oil for me. I do wonder how I can supplement enough Omega-3. I'm very allergic to seafood and soy. And currently people seem to be anti flax. I guess I have to rely on walnuts and green leafy vegetables.

Hi sp. Hope you feeling better. I dont know but your response really cheered me up. Thanks for reponding and yes thanks so much for the information regarding probiotic. I got some today and will start taking tomorrow. I also don't like fermented food. But I took ACV after reading all those positive responses on this site. I started mixing it with blackstrap molasses, taste better that way.

You take care and I wish you all the best for your future and good health too. Bye for now!!!

Sp, why are you saying that "currently people seem to be anti flax"? Is this for real?

Hi Mmsg, I wish I could be more specific, but about a year ago, my eye doctor who is a fitness buff was recommending supplements to me and said no to flax, and around the same time I had been reading some anti flax information from what I considered a reputable source, but for the life of me I can't recall where. I assume it's because of its fragile nature, it spoils so quickly, both the oil and the seeds/meal. I remember making a mental note about it. But that's all I got. You know how it is, vitamin D was being hailed for all sorts of things and now they're saying it's not all that.

I have read that you can prevent flaxseed and oil from going rancid by keeping it in the fridge. Works for me. I also recommend sticking with organic flax, for health reasons. Flaxseed isn't inherently bad, just check out all the Canadian articles with regard to flax and breast cancer. Unfortunately the pharma-married FDA here won't consider such research :(. Which raises another point, often effective remedies that work fine are successfully used as such in other countries, but discredited in the US because they compete with big pharma. So, often, bias against natural remedies is common in US-based reporting.

I see Sp. Yes, things come and go into and outta "style" pretty quickly. But I'm still using a tablespoon of flax seeds in my smoothie. I figure if I grind it m'self, it won't lose too much good stuff.

And Wow! I didn't know that Vit. D was "going outta style" already!! :) I still try to sit in the sun daily.

I remember reading that Dr. Dean Ornish said that men with prostrate problems should not take flax because of an increased risk of cancer, and I had wondered if it would be good for anyone if that is true. Still, it was recommended to me by a Dr. for lowering cholesterol, but then again, so we're statins which I took for almost ten years with much joint and memory problems. Statins only prevent 1 heart attack out of 100 people with high cholesterol, or a 1% success rate. I believe the side effects are underreported.
