Discussion on neuropathy from cipro bill question

Posted By Diane (Sherborn, MA) on 08/04/2014

Hello Bill from the Phillipines. I have recently found out that I got my peripheral neuropathy from Cipro. The last 3 years I thought it was from hepatitis c, but the neuropathy came on right after my doctor gave me a double treatment of Cipro.

After looking at all the web sites devoted to this problem I have discovered that my neuropathy is due to FLUORIDE poisoning from the Cipro which is a very extensive problem. Do you know of a way to get the fluoride out of my system?

My neuropathy is getting worse and I even have double vision and bladder issues recently...And the pain and spasms are going up my legs and are in my thighs.. Numb from the knees down. Cipro is a "Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic, " all of which cause neuropathy and it's still on the market..BEWARE EVERYBODY..Thank you very much.

Diane, having been on the cipro merri-go-round and fluoride issues, I began Ted's borax protocol. For a woman: 1/8 tea borax to 1 liter of water (I use a quart jar, as it is close). This is sipped throughout the day. 4 days on, 3 days off. Fluoride is chelated from the body by borax. We also filter our city water using a fluoride filter, and I bathe using 1/2 c borax to 2 quarts of water, to help counter fluoride absorption through the skin, in the shower. I found that many issues improved after 1 month and I continued to improve as I continued to use it, and many of my fluoride issues have abated. I now use the borax protocol about every other month, especially if I have had to drink fluorinated water for some reason. I also added magnesium to my diet, which boosts the borax protocol and well being. EC also has a neuropathy page that may be of additional help. https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/neuropathy.html

Diane, I forgot a key ingredient to the borax water for fluoride detox and that is sea salt. I add 1/4 tea to the borax solution.

I hope things improve quickly for you. -Bj

Hi Diane...I think Cipro is an awful drug. Not only is Cipro a dangerous antibiotic (that will destroy your intestinal flora) but it also contains fluorine.

To remove the excess fluorine from your body, I would take Borax as the previous post advises.

I would also take lugol's iodine at doses recommended in the Iodine Supplementation Guide by Stephanie Buist. Take ALL the iodine companion nutrients with lugols iodine that are advised in this guide.

Iodine is a wonderful remover of heavy metals and halides. It removes cadmium, aluminum, lead, mercury, arsenic as well as removing bromine and fluorine from the body.

Taking the Cipro and all that excess fluorine in the body will also tend to inhibit the thyroid -- making you hypothyroid. So Iodine will benefit you here as well and will help to return your thyriod to normal operation.

i would also advise that you take the following at mealtimes: Alpha Lipoic Acid(300 mgs twice day), Milk Thistle(450 mgs twice a day) and selenium(200 mcg twice a day). This will help your liver and help to keep your blood pure. It also helps against neuropathy and Hepatitis C.

Hello Bill, Thank you and Bj for the feedback with regard to Lugols Iodine and borax...I used both and in 3 days it was the most relief I have had since I came down with neuropathy, 3 years and one month ago...I used it for 4 days and stopped just the borax the 5th day and stayed with the Lugols for that day...That night my neuropathy came back...I have seen many different suggestions on how to use borax.

I have seen several suggestions on how to use borax...4 days on-3 days off. 5 days on-2 days off. 3 weeks on- one week off. What is the reason for going off borax? If possible I would stay on this and completely knock the neuropathy out of my system...I also have gone up to 50 mgs of Lugols as the literature you sent me says that people have gone as high as 300 mgs..It says your nose will run when you hit your maximum dose tolerance. I even stood for and hour and talked to someone. I couldn't stand for over a minute. The pain in my feet was indescribable! I had to keep walking. I was close to crippled. Thank you very much.

Hi Diane...Borax affects the hormones in the body and tends to bring your hormones back to normal youthful levels. Thus increasing your hormones in such a fashion can put a strain on the all organs and processes concerned if you are an older person. That's why its best to have regular rests from the Borax protocol.

Your own borax dose should be an 1/8 tspn taken with a litre of water and drunk throughout he day. When I took the borax protocol for my candida issues, I took it for five days on with two days off. So I took it during the week and stopped taking it at weekends. But if you want to take it for 4 days on and 3 days off that's fine as well. Whatever suits your own needs.

I wasn't surprised about what you said concerning the increased energy that iodine gives you. It also helps you to think with more clarity as well -- brainfog just disappears. In other words, it radically improves low thyroid issues thus also improving the function of all your other hormones as another wonderful benefit and side-effect. I take iodine every day now -- its a must for me.

HI Bill, I was on your magnesium oil on body for peripheral neuropathy and it worked for a couple of days then stopped. I'm still doing that therapy and today am on day 13..I have hep-c and PN. I feel my PN was caused by Cipro but I had cold extremities previously from Atenolol. (drugs have not been good to me)I take many supplements for both conditions and just included your magnesium oil treatment..I had been getting phlebotomies to lower my liver enzymes. I find when my ferritin level lowers, so does my liver enzymes...I stopped the phlebotomy last month and just did Lugols exclusively at 50 mgs/day and occasionally went to 150 mgs/day...According to Stephanie Buist there is not problem going that high...I found that my ferritin went from 28 to 18 with no phlebotomy and I made it a point to eat a lot of red meat when it was it 28, yet it still went down...I feel 18 is about as low as I should go and maybe even not that low...My neuropathy just got horrendous...Is this because of the lowered ferritin.? Does ferritin carry oxygen? Should I lay off Lugols for a few days or weeks? I am freezing from my knees to my feet 24/7. 3-7 AM is absolutely terrible....The neuropathy has also recently gone to my forearms and hands. Recently started taking Cats Claw for pain, Nucleotide inosine to build myelin sheath and inositol hexanicotinate to open capillaries per Dr. Atkins. Your advice has been invaluable to me.Please advise...Thank you very much.

Sounds like you have a B-12 Deficiency. You might try Methylcobalamin at pretty high doses. Brands matter and so does the type of B12. Do not take cynacobalamin.

Have you tried sublingual methylcobalamin and other coenzyme b vitamins for cipro caused peripheral neuropathy.

Hi Diane...I think your neuropathy and ferritin problems are all connected to your Hep C issues. So what you should do is try to cure or reduce the Hep C problem.

One of the best natural Hep C therapies against Hepatitis and cirrhosis is called The Triple Antioxidant Therapy by Dr Burt Berkson. This involves taking the following nutrients on a daily basis with meals: Alpha Lipoic Acid (600 mgs twice a day), Selenium (200mcg twice a day) as Selenomethionine and Milk Thistle(450 mgs twice a day). I would also add B50 Complex once a day into this protocol as ALA tends to deplete the B vitamins in the body. I would also add cysteine (600 mgs twice a day) to this protocol as well. ALA is also known to be highly beneficial for neuropathy problems.

Another option to help cure Hep C is the BHT Therapy promoted by Oscar. This just involves taking 250 mgs to 350 mgs with water once or twice a day.

Lastly, your freezing problems at the peripherals of you body -- head, hands and feet -- is due to your low ferritin levels. The ferrtin or protein bound heme iron is needed to transport oxygen to your cells. This oxygen helps to increase metabolism -- it therefore increases the body heat. But if you are low ferritin then this means you also have low oxygen in the blood and low metabolism -- less heat generated in your body so that's why you feel freezing at the peripherals of your body.

The best way to address your ferritin(heme iron) problems is to take bovine colostrum powder two times a day. The dose is between one and two teaspoons of bovine colostrum powder in a glass of water or milk -- take this two times a day outside mealtimes. Colostrum contains lactoferricin and lactoferrin in its most highly absorbed form -- this will help to increase your ferritin or heme iron levels in the blood. Lactoferrin also acts as an anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. The lactoferrin in colostrum prevents viruses from attaching themselves to the host cells -- so it stops viruses breeding. What's more, colostrum contains 50% anti-bodies from the mother cow -- this would also act to provide a higher degree of pathogen protection for your body against other pathogens via a vastly strengthened immune system. All good for Hep C. I would buy your colostrum powder from Sovereign Labs because they make the best colostrum on the market. Read about some of the health benefits of colostrum here and here.

Best Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill, Unfortunately I have tried the Berkson therapy for about a solid year with no change in my liver enzymes...I also tried Oscar's BHT treatment with a significant increase in my pulse and blood pressure at only 175 mgs...I have also tried Immunopro protein powder with has lactoferrin for about 6 months with no change..It is suppose to stop/prevent iron helping the virus replicate...Don't know what to do other than stop Lugols and let my ferritin levels raise and get warm again (hopefully). I had this cold hands and cold feet thing IMMEDIATLY after I took atenolol for my blood pressure...(atenolol prevents the heart from beating as hard as it would and less times per minute which means less blood to the extremities) Also wound up with ventricular tachycardia and a 4 1/2 hour heart operation on my heart...Unfortunately I let a doctor talk me into going on atenolol for PREVENTATIVE problems. Never had high blood pressure but my father had heart issues and she thought I should go on it...One of the biggest mistakes in my life. That and my first marriage... I guess I should likely eat more red meat for iron. Would it be advisable to take blackstrap molasses for iron?

Finally I was on the drug Solvadi for hep-c for 8 weeks and the virus was undetectable with enzymes in the 20's for 3 months... Then it came back and both enzymes went to the mid 300's I have then back now..ALT 110...AST 55... Ferritin 18 (low but it brings down my liver enzymes)...which isn't too bad comparatively...Thank you for the feedback and your valuable time...everybody...

Hi Bill,

Forgot to tell you I came down with full blown peripheral Neuropathy and stage 4 cirrhosis 3 weeks after taking the antibiotic Cipro..

I cured the cirrhosis with Ultra Violet Blood Irradation with ALA infused as well. This took 5 treatments...
