Mystery Skin Discoloration on Bottom Half of Legs

Posted By Priscilla (California) on 05/16/2017

I am 66 years old and in decent health. I take one prescription every day for keeping my blood pressure normal. 60 mil of Nifedipine. For a few weeks now I have noticed my legs' skin color starting from the side of the ankles now has a different color like pinkish/brown color rising up my legs? I'm going to see my doctor about his but would anyone know why this is happening? If you have experienced this before? At first I thought it was a sunburn from folding my pants up a way when doing gardening? But the shade of color starts where I use socks.

The sun does not hit that area so this might not be a sun tan? Has anyone out there Experience this with their own skin? I though it could be age spots but I'm not sure? It's not just one or two spots, this colorization is on half the bottom legs.

Thank you!

HI U PRISCILLA,,,,,,,, my dear, that is iron. I have it and so do most diabetics or folks that have a lymph problem. You need to do a glucose fasting test and I can almost promise you that you have diabetes. If not, then you have a lymph flow problem. Don't listen to a Redneck like me...... research it for yourself.

The world is not coming to an end, but you need to understand your problem so you can best address it. You will live for a long, long time.

I wish you well. ======ORH======

Boy do I feel like an idiot! I forgot that I was doing gardening and I rolled up my jeans because I didn't want them getting dirty. My husband examine my legs and told me that it was a sunburn! The top of my leg is light and where I rolled up my jeans is pinkish.

I would do something like that! Anyway thanks for your help anyway!

False alarm.
