Need Help For Daughter With Swollen Salivary Gland Under Left Jaw

Posted By Mmcfadden (Yakima, Washington) on 11/09/2015

I hope someone on this site can help my daughter. She has a salivary gland under her left jaw. It has been there for about two years. She has seen an ENT and has had a CT scan. He Rx surgically removing it. I fought that and asked him to drain it as nothing showed up on the CT scan. He agreed to drain it and when he did he felt that it was nothing to worry about. About 6 months later it came back and now feels a bit larger. It is soft and does not hurt at all and is not red. It is very noticeable and she is very self conscience. We have also seen a Naturopath who Rx a poultice (my daughter was not compliant she is 17 years old). I really do not want to have it surgically removed. Please help. Everything I read here is about a lump that hurts. Hers does not and she does not have dry mouth either. It first showed up after she did the lemonade cleanse. I suspect she did not drink enough water but that should have all resolved itself by now right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Mmcfadden,

We have had great success with castor oil and peppermint essential oil for swollen lymph nodes. It can be massaged into the area 2-3 times a day and is easier than a poultice, though we do love poultices! But I understand. I would have a hard time keeping a poultice on a 17 year old.

Per Tablespoon of Castor oil, add 5 drops of peppermint essential oil.

Exercise, especially a trampoline, will help keep the lymph moving.

Drinking plenty of liquids (water or herbal tea is best) is important too, to flush out the system.

I hope she can get this resolved, soon!

Thank You. I have castor oil and will pick up some peppermint oil as well. We have a vibrating exercise machine. Will that work just as well as a rebounder for the lymph?

Dear Mmcfadden,

I don't know anything about a vibrating exercise machine, so I am not sure. Jumping rope would accomplish the same thing as a rebounder, though.

Salivary glands are not lymph glands.
