Conflicting Reports About Remedies for Hair Loss

Posted By Cheryl (Conway, Ar) on 06/17/2015

I have lost over half of my hair in the past 2 months. My head itches like crazy, I have red bumps in my hair all over. Went to the dermotologist and he gave me no solution, no help. My hair continues to fall out at an alarming rate. I have always had super thick, healthy hair, now you can see my scalp. I have read so many conflicting remedies. One says a certain thing will help while another post says it makes it worse. I need help! I have read all kinds of information about borax, baking soda, coconut oil, castor oil, Acv, tea tree oil, lavendar, and the list goes on and on. I need help on precisely what to use and where to start please!

Mix, say, a half-teaspoon of the borax with a half-teaspoon baking soda. Have this powder handy on a saucer. Wash your hair and while sopping wet dip your fingers into the powder-mixture and start working it into your scalp. It will dissolve along the way. You don't need a lot just enough to make your scalp slippery. Leave it alone for awhile and do not rinse out; just dry your hair normally. Your hair will have some stiffness from the coating but the combo of B and BS should kill the critter or fungus you've picked up. Do this again in a few days. The treatment will also help sooth the itch. I've used this on cats/dogs with "hot spots" and with perfect success.

Cheryl - I had a very similar experience a few years back. Try rinsing your hair (after shampooing) with 50/50 apple cider vinegar and water. You can use the cheap, grocery store brand of Apple Cider Vinegar for this. Use a hair dye or condiment type bottle to get the solution to saturate your scalp effectively.

Daily use made my (very straight and fine) hair break after a few weeks (ymmv), and I then discovered that ice cold water would have the same effect.

This greatly curbed the maddening itch, and lessened the hair loss. If you have any pets in your house, and notice they are itching, purchase Seresto collars as they work perfectly for this malady.

For more info, feel free to email me directly. Darla
