Coconut oil for mononucleosis

Posted By Susieq (North Branch, Mn, Usa) on 09/05/2012

I have mono and have been reading up on natural remedies and to help alleviate symptoms. I didn't present with the usual symptoms - no sore throat - but started as respiratory problems - didn't go away - and started the exhaustion - I rest but can't sleep well ( because of prednisone? I have some pleuritic issues as well - that's why I have been taking it - but almost done) getting my spleen checked tomorrow. (I feel like I have just bared my soul! ) Anyone use coconut oil for mono? If my spleen is swollen - will this help or hurt??? I took a little last night - w/o any problem. Any suggestion/adviceswould be appreciated. Thanks.

My doctor gave me a steroid shot for the throat pain and massive headache and reccomended some vitamins for me: a multivitamin, vitamin D (400 iu) for the immune system, and B12 for energy. Also, she let me up the dose of ibuprofen to prescription strength for the throat pain and headache, but you'll have to talk to your doctor about that.
