Post Nasal Drip Issue After Years of Sinus Spray Use

I am currently in the middle of (what my ENT doctor thinks) a chronic sinus issues due to allergies. I have been addicted to Afrin for years, and last fall (2017) I came down with a moderate cold/post nasal drip episode. I have felt with post nasal drip many time being that I was addicted to Afrin. This time ended up different. Ever since this episode I have had mucus stuck in my sinuses forcing me to have to constantly swallow for it to come right back. This sensation, however, is not in the bottom of my throat like most people. My doctor ruled out silent reflux due to the mucus being trapped in the back of my nose. I have been off of Afrin for 2 weeks and still am stuffy, but am praying ACV will cure me from this sinus/allergy/post nasal drip episode thy has almost lasted a year. I’ve tried antibiotics, steroids, prescription nose sprays...it has all helped with the congestion but my main concern is the constant swallowing. I can’t sleep due to the frustration and anxiety over having to constantly swallow mucus. I tried drinking apple cider vinegar this morning and will plan again tonight before going to bed. My congestion is getting better, but still having to swallow. Has anyone else had these symptoms? CT scan showed mucus in ethmoids but my doctor is stumped other than blaming it on Afrin. We are hoping once my nose heals from the Afrin, the mucus will go away. His explanation is that my nose is creating excess mucus due to trying to fight off the addiction to Afrin. I really hope this goes away, as I can only go without sleep for so long!!!! Suggestions please?!?!

Nutmeg and clove powder really dry my sinuses. You might consider using lots of fermented foods for a while, too; kimchi, kefir, yogurt, etc.. Taking a mucus thinner may help speed the process along, so cayenne, ginger, mustard seed powder... It could be a rebound effect, so just waiting it out may eventually give you relief. Address your environment, food, cosmetics, soap, etc. for potential allergens, too. Detox/cleanse. Good luck!
