Natural Remedies for Child With Gum and Tooth Infection Needed

Please help with child gum and tooth infection/swollen cheek/open tooth

Dear people, my 6 year old boy had some bad dental work and there was a gum boil day after. I did peroxide/coconut oil/turmeric and tea tree oil and the day after it was better. Fast farward to yesterday - he did seen to have his tounge go towards where the boil used to be for days, but yesterday he developed low grade fever and he got a chipmunk cheek on one side and some redness, also under the eye, complaining of pain in the "pink thing". I repeated the whole procedure, this morning the swelling was even worse.. :( So off to the dentist - the one who did it was "busy" so off to another one. He was super hard on him, so he started screaming as he was drilling, and it ended by the dentist opening up the tooth - and NOT covering it! He told me to stuff it woth cotton!!!! He also said he needs antibiotics - and my boy has gastritis! He is already on probiotics due to gastritis and candida (Undiagnosed candida, I guess its what it is as his tounge is white). ANtibiotics would reverse all the hard work (strict diet, suplements, me cooking 7 meals a day, all healthy etc, and I am a single mother, so I skip a lot of meals in order to afford all of this..).

I know this is dangerous, I just 1) cannot afford a third visit to the dentist/doctor - no health insurance, and I have no idea how to even afford meals after all these visits 2) if I decided not to eat for the rest of the month, and took him again - he will get antibiotics - as even the dentist sad that since the tooth is completely open, the infection is likely to be worse! What am I supposed to do? I cannot afford another visit, and do not want to reverse all the progress by giving him antibiotics even if I did.. I do not want to harm him furher, and I want his infection gone..

He seems really tired, and still low grade fever, tired and I CANNOT get the cotton into this little hole. I dont get how I was supposed to do that?! He is starting to sneeze as his immune system seems worse. I dont know what to do at all, so please, please, any suggestion would do! Is there anything I could do to avoid antibiotics and stop the infection?

Fammy, I just cured a tooth infection by applying edible French Green Clay. No harm in swallowing but I DID drink abundantly. First day showed no difference. But since I have used Clay many times, I just continued. By the next morning no pain. And in a few days all was healed.

Dear Fammy,

Salt water rinses (1 teaspoon in a cup of water water) are good and this can be gargled also if he is beginning to feel ill.

You mention turmeric- can he take it internally? If so, 1/4 teaspoon several times a day for infection. (Mixed with yogurt or applesauce or whatever is okay for him to have.)

Black tea bags can be moistened and held inside the cheek to draw out infection and relieve pain and swelling.

Clove is also good for pain relief and antiseptic. Essential oil or the powder.

I also like 1/2 cup baking soda in a warm bath for my children when they are sick. It seems to help a lot.

And dear Fammy, please do eat and take care of yourself. He really needs you to be healthy and able to take care of him. Can you figure out the least expensive foods he can eat and both of you eat them until this crisis is past?

Lentils and rice and peanut butter on bread maybe for you, are two of my favorite ways to get inexpensive calories and nutrition.

Keep us posted.

Hi Fammy,

MTM has made some great suggestions, I wish to second the clove oil, I used it when my husband had great pain from dental surgery, it helped the pain and kept infection at bay. It is very strong, so I would use little but as often as possible. Maybe at first to dilute with organic coconut oil, or even gentler would be to grind up some whole clove spice and apply the powder. I thought you may have access to olive leaves and could make tea to give as natural antibiotic a cup maybe every four hours. It might be soothing too. Or garlic tea, and the turmeric to any of these would be beneficial, to attack inflammation and infection from the inside. Your predicament sounds just awful and I do hope some suggestions give you relief.

Best to you and your son

Fammy,

If you have a hospital or walk-in medical facility that is run by the Sisters of Charity, like Mercy Medical, they will give you service based on your ability to pay. They will not turn away anyone. They have a sign in their offices stating that they will help you, even if you can’t pay. Best wishes.

Dear Fammy,

One time I was living in a yurt in the desert with my children and had no money. My daughter got a tooth abscess which was causing her a lot of pain. She was 4 then. I used this remedy, and it worked very quickly. Thankfully, I had these items handy. I gave her vitamin C & zinc crushed up in some honey. Then I had her do coconut oil pulling 5x, at 2 minute intervals. We walked around and hummed as she gargled as 10 minutes is a long time to a child haha. Then I made a poultice. I took 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp baking soda and stirred them together on a plate. Then I wet a small piece of cotton ball and rolled it in the mixture. I placed the poultice between the infected tooth and gum (which I admit took some bribery, we played her favorite board game for as long as she kept it in). When she couldn't anymore, I had her do more oil pulling. Thankfully, she was able to keep the poultice in for several hours and I could see the abscess starting to come to a head. She was in much less pain, able to eat and sleep comfortably at that point. I repeated all of this the next day and the abscess drained into the cotton ball. Oh, I had also given her ibuprofen overnight. After it drained, I started alternating oil pulling with salt water gargles for several days to make sure the infection stayed gone. It was pain free by day 2, and completely healed with no redness or irritation noticeable within a few more days. It never returned. I do hope your son is feeling better by now. If not, I would definitely recommend the protocol I used with my daughter plus maybe some temporary filling after the infection is out. I also did not feed my daughter any sugar or carbs for a few days. As far as being out of food, have you ever considered dumpster diving aka freeganing? You would be totally amazed at what the stores throw out! Blessings and luck to you and your son.
