Chemicals cough or treatment caused anosmia

I lost my smell and taste in April 2012 after a strong dry cough that last two months. My taste came back after one month, and my smell too but was something wird. I smell burning iron and it burn my nostrils like hot peper. Sometime I pick up a strong smell that stays with me for few days. Usully happens when I'm indoor. I work on electronic fild where I was hierd in March thi year. Could be the chimicals, could be the homeopatic product that I used for a week then? I went the doctor for that cough where I got the Prednizone and antibiotics for 15 days. I did the catscane for my synus, but nothing wrong with it. Plese help me to find my smell again. I used to stop on my daily waks and smell every flower on my way, but now I, m worry if my smell will ever come back. Is terible when part of you is lost.

I sympathize with you. It's horrible. Wondering if you had any luck in the past two years? I've been suffering with it for 1 1/2 years and get a little something now and then but still no smell and taste.
