No Remedies Helping Persistent Cough

Posted By Mario (Palmdale, California ) on 12/27/2016

Very sensitivity to cold drinks and cold weather causing tonsil swelling then moves on to a horrible sinus pressure and lingering hacking cough post nasal drip is what I was diagnosed with by a doc and a cough that drags with no end. Early this year, I was diagnosed with bronchitis, I purchased the silver longs generator with nebulizer thinking it was going to be the cure. It didn't do much.

I also nebulized h202 food grad diluted, tried oregano super strength p73. It worked amazing on my kids but didn't do much for me, tried ACV with black strap molasses, half a lime and cinnamon. I do this two to three times a week. I tried the netipot with h2o2 many times tried shark liver oil orally, also nebulized peppermint oil, tea tree oil I tried oil pulling can't say it helped.

I have tried many remedies on this web site and many have worked great but not for this one issue, last night I was wheezing and coughing all night my throat was quickly closing up I remembered I had a prednisone inhaler left over from when I first had bronchitis as soon as I inhaled it I felt relief no more wheezing, but did nothing for the cough. I found one of teds remedy's "Father with Lung Issues After Bronchitis" sounded a lot like what I am going through so next day when out and bought clove oil, N acetyl Cysteine, lysine, sea salt 500 mg of vitamin B3 niacin and I tried the clove oil one drop in the nebulizer and one drop of eucalyptus oil with a table spoon of distilled water and did the rest just like he recommended. After the very first dose I had an allergic reaction to something, my skin flared up red I was hot and inflamed it lasted for about 40 minutes then disappeared. I tried the clove oil nebulized to rule that out. My skin has not flared up. Any ideas what it could be, should I continue with less dosage, what do you think I should try to cure this cough?

I think its mutating back to bronchitis. Also do you think its connected to heartburn? I get frequently, any ideas would be helpful thank you.

Hi Mario,

I hope you're no longer suffering from your cough, but just in case you are, here are a few thoughts and suggestions:

First of all, I think it's highly likely that what you believed was an allergic reaction was actually a normal and natural (and very healthy) reaction to the niacin you took in Ted's remedy. Don't let it scare you (unless you're taking time-release niacin which is a big no-no to be avoided always). I understand that the redness and sensation of heat is caused by the niacin causing dilation of your blood vessels, large and small, throughout your body. For more about niacin, I strongly encourage you to watch some of the late, great Dr. Abram Hoffer's videos on YouTube to educate you further.

Second, your mention of being very sensitive to cold makes me suspect that you may have an iodine deficiency. That could also help explain your tonsil swelling and difficulty healing despite you throwing some extremely powerful therapies against your infection. For that, I would recommend watching some YouTube videos on iodine from Dr. Brownstein, Dr. Axe, and Dr. Group, reading the posts on EarthClinic from others about their experiences with iodine, and then supplementing with iodine religiously. If I were you, I would do as Dr. Brownstein suggests and try to work up to a total daily dose of at least 50 mg per day. VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to take the supplemental minerals he recommends along with the iodine -- especially selenium and magnesium. Specifically, I've read that failing to get enough selenium with your iodine can lead to Hashimoto's Disease.

What form of iodine is best? I don't know. However, despite the very good reviews given to nascent iodine and my respect for Edgar Cayce who I understand gave the formula for Atomidine in one of his readings and recommended it many times thereafter, I think I would use either the old tried and true Lugol's or Iodoral (which I understand to be Dr. Brownstein's choice).

Whichever form you take, if you're iodine deficient (as the vast majority of us are), you'll probably experience an uncomfortable and potentially severe reaction as the iodine displaces the bromine, chlorine, and fluorine that your body has absorbed in its stead. To reduce that reaction, you can spread out the iodine into at least four or five does, preferably more. Also, I gather that there's much less detox associated with iodine that's absorbed through your skin, although I also gather that only about 20% of the iodine you paint on your skin winds up getting absorbed.

One more thing... The persistence of the cough and what you say about your tonsil swelling make me suspect fungal involvement. Therefore, although iodine is one of the widest spectrum and best, if not THE best, anti-pathogen around, if I were you, I would also begin supplementing with boron using Borax as described on this site and as Dr. Walter Last describes it in "The Borax Conspiracy" and "The Ultimate Microbial Cleanse":

Finally, it's just a fact of life that detox symptoms usually accompany both therapies and most other healing protocols. Be prepared for them by educating yourself about them and doing things to minimize them, but don't let them dissuade you from your healing path. In all likelihood, the worse they are, the more you need them.

Finally, study, study, study, study, and study some more. As you do, you'll be able to improve your protocol(s), reduce your inevitable mistakes, connect dots that confirm or refute your latest conclusions, and thereby achieve the best possible state of health in the least possible time.

Happy healing, Harry
