Candida and Weight Gain

Posted By Jolynn (Florida) on 12/15/2008

For years my boyfriend has had a fungal infection in his toenails. He has tried several different prescription drugs for it that didn't work and now he refuses to go to the doctor. I am assuming that he most likely has candida and was wondering if he could have passed it on to me through sex. I gained at least 50 pounds within the first 6 months that we were together and I have not been able to lose it. I was never overweight in my life. I know that one of the symptoms of candida is weight gain. I really don't want to go to the doctor to get tested because I wont take the drugs that are commonly prescribed for candida. Does anyone have comments, suggestions? Thanks.

Please consider another cause...Is it possible that you and your boyfriend were both exposed to something like fluoride that could have caused the problems to both of you? The fluoride interferes with the uptake of iodine by the thyroid. I don't know anything about fungus and the thyroid...but I can tell you that painting iodine directly on my husband's toenails cleared up the fungus in short order. Furthermore, we had been exposed to things like rocket fuel and fluoride from our contaminated well, and I was gaining weight from a thyroid that just didn't work anymore. Just a thought.
