Can Interstitial Cystitis Cause Referred Pain?

Posted By Heuwood (Mt. Airy, Nc) on 02/28/2012

I was diagnosed with IC last Friday. I've been dealing with pain for over a year now. I've been through a ton of tests, including gallbladder tests, CT scans, ultrasounds on my ovaries, laparoscopy to look for endometriosis, etc. Finally, I talked to a family member and she suggested I talk to my OB about IC. I filled out the questionnaire and they decided to test me last Friday. It was very clear that I have IC. My question is, have any of you had referred pain from the IC? I've had a lot of pain on my lower right side and that's what's had us all confused all along. It does burn when I urinate and from time to time my bladder is extremely sensitive, but for the most part the pain is on my lower right side. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I'm going to start trying some of the natural remedies this week. My doctor prescribed Elmi*** but I don't want to take it! I'd appreciate any suggestions and feedback that you're willing to share!

Blessings, Heuwood

Did you find out anything more on your lower right side pain? I have lower left side pain and would really like to know if it's connected.

You can try Baking Soda, 2 tablespoons in a cup of water 3 times a day, look into alkalizing, you can not drink soda, cofee , tea, caffeine, citrus, acidic stuff, even fruit. No grease, no fast food, no junk food. You cannot eat a lot of things. Sorry. Try eating nothing but veggies and water for a month, and you will feel a difference. You can't cheat, you really have to stick to it. Keep looking for info! Here is a website IC network. Good luck you are not alone, there are many of us. We need to stick together and find a cure <3

After seeing the 6 TBSP in a day of baking soda, I went and looked for side effects and Mark Sircus has some warnings about using baking soda without doing your own research as to which medications, vitamins, supplements and health conditions you have as it could land a person in the emergency room.

I was just reading in a prolapsed organ site and they talked a lot about having this pain you guys are saying you have from your bladder.

They said it was caused by muscle in one area too tight that was overcompensating for an area that was weak. They were getting some physical therapy to address this problem... and some of these said it was caused from stress and an anti anxiety or anti depressant helped them relax the tense muscle, so they could heal the area.
