Can I Use Boric Acid for BV Long Term

Posted By Jnc (Prince George) on 07/18/2015

Originally I got Flagystatin from my doctor after dealing with BV for many, many years. The infection was gone within a few days and then I have been using boric acid suppositories twice a week since then. I'm finding that I need to use it more like 3 or 4 times a week to keep the symptoms at bay, but I'm nervous about using it that often. If I only use it twice, the symptoms come back and there is a smell, and intercouse hurts... etc. I can't find any information about side effects from long term use of boric acid. Has anyone found anything? Is it safe to use more than half a week? Or every day? I'm at a loss. I also had to have a bladder repair so I have mesh holding my bladder in place and I'm nervous that the boric acid is going to affect the mesh in some way. Does anyone have this same issue?

I am on boric acid treatment for 21 days in a row, then I have to continue with metrogel twice a week according to my doctor.
