Hemochromatosis: Does anyone know if there is any validity to eating coleslaw to reduce ferritin levels?

Hi,

I am suffering from the same problem of high ferritin levels due to hemotomachrosis. I would be interested in any info you receive regarding these troublesome levels.

Cheers Andrea

Hi Andrea,

High iron can be lowered by taking the supplement IP6. A woman with Hep B takes it for this and has her blood checked regularly and finds it to be effective. Hemochromotosis is also controlled by donating blood, if you are able to do that, or you can have it withdrawn with a doctor's prescription at a blood center of your local hospital. Maybe call ahead to check first. Best wishes.
