Bad Case of Hives Following Sand Flea Bites in New Mexico

Posted By Bhanu (Colorado) on 08/17/2015

I have severe hives following insect bite allergic reaction, sand fleas in New Mexico. The doctor gave me cortisol shot followed by prednisone taper and anti-histamines. But the hives are worse. What are the best topical and internal approaches to relieve intense itching/burning from hives all over face and body?

Dear Bhanu,

I would try a cup of baking soda in a warm bath for 20 minutes twice a day to relieve the itching.

Also, 4 cups of nettle tea each day. We have had great success with nettle tea for hives.

Try to eat light easily digestible meals and drink plenty of water to flush the system. (Nettle tea counts towards you daily water requirement.)

I hope you feel better soon!
