Baby has chalazion and cellulitis near eye

My 6 month old started what looked like an allergy (red under eyes), turned into large bump one under the eyelid and the other on the upper eyelid. The pediatrician seemed very concerned and the E. R. Doctor said it was chalazion and cellulitis of the eyes. They prescribed antibiotics and Erythromycin. Swelling is going down, but I want a natural method and wonder what the root cause was.

Dear Kelly,

This page has many natural cures and explanations of a chalazion.

Some of the ideas may not be practical for a baby, but I know if I were looking for a natural solution, I would consider using charcoal or breastmilk on the chalazion.

Extra Virgin Coconut oil is a great anti-viral/anti-bacterial remedy. My daughter recently used it on a stye on her eye and it helped so much and was easy to apply.

I have used garlic for its anti-biotic properties for my children many times. For babies that are not eating yet, garlic salve can be put on the bottoms of the feet several times a day and it will absorb into the body.

If you are still breastfeeding, you can take a lot of garlic yourself and it will go into your milk.

I hope she is all healed up soon!
