you gotta be kidding!! I am 83 and quit smoking at 70. Very hard to do and didn't want to quit, but decided I wanted to live a bit longer. I was diagnosed with copd at 68. Wish I had quit at 40. No fun sitting all day, can't walk and tied to oxygen. You will live until you die, but believe me the quality of life you will have is in your hands today. Quit smoking!!Replied by Mother (Hampshire, England) on 06/13/2012
I have had Copd/Emphysemia since 2003. Stopped smoking within months. Was managing quite well still able to get about with 1 hours oxygen each day. Thought I was doing fine until I went to have a check up to see if I was a candidate for a lung transplant as Doctor thought I was fit enough to get through the operation. Alas they found I now had lung cancer and there is nothing they can do. I was only a heavy smoker for about 10-15 years of my life but even though the result for me hasn't turned out well I am glad I gave up smoking it was extremely hard but I believe if I hadn't given up I would not have lasted the 9 years since I was diagnosed, or it would have been a lot harder. Its never too late to give up don't stop trying it took me five or six attempts before I finally stopped for good.
