Anemia Causing Shortness of Breath

Posted By Sep (Lyb) on 09/12/2015

I have been having shortness of breath since mid May 2015. When the ER doctor didn't find anything wrong with various tests, including for heart, he said it was stress/anxiety and put me on anxiety pills. I have been on and off of various brands as they only cover the symptoms of shortness of breath (that too not completely), and did nothing to fix my lack of energy, unable to walk much, unable to climb stairs (that gives heavy shortness of breath). Thankfully a friend doctor asked me to test my iron and ferritin. Iron and hemoglobin are within range but on the lower end. Ferritin has a very large range 6-284 and mine was at 9. When my regular doctor saw the report a month later she said I was low on ferritin and has asked me to take iron supplements and said this could be the reason for my shortness of breath. I have only been taking the supplements for the last 12 days that too less dosage as they are not agreeing with me. Have been eating chicken liver a couple times a week. I still continue to have shortness of breath and lack of energy.

I have been anemic most of my life with hemoglobin lower than normal. Two years ago my ferritin was 20 and my doctor put me on supplements. After about a year it went to 40 and then I stopped the iron supplements - big mistake.

Anybody been in my shoes? Any suggestions on how to get the ferritin level up quickly. I believe the optimal range is 40-60 and anything below 20 is iron deficiency. Cant wait to get back to being my own active and cheerful self quickly.

I am on iron supplements due to my low ferritin levels. I started taking 1 tsp of blackstrap molasses as that is said to help with iron. I was eating it right out of spoon after food or in the evenings. I started having 3 bowel movements in the mornings, which made me totally empty and so weak with absolutely no energy that I had to call in sick for 2 days at work. I first thought it was the iron supplement causing it, so bought a different brand. and then bought another variety which is known for causing constipation. First day with that supplement I had just 1 normal bowel movement, next day I took half tsp BSM and next morning everything was totally emptied making me very weak. So I know it is BSM causing it.

How should I take BSM so it wont cause diarrea as I really want my ferritin levels to go up soon as it is causing me shortness of breath.

Thanks for responding.

S: This looks like a case of parasite/pathogen/inflammation disease. Here is the E.C. page for a remedy https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/parasites.html

For more info watch Dr L. Herman YT vid here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coDnj47Unh4

Eating Apples daily or taking a supplement of Magnesium Malate will help with energy. L-Carnatine, D-Ribose, and CoQ10 supplementation will restore the energy to your heart which will end the shortness of breath etc.

Sep, I'm one of those that pills didn't help, but Blackstrap Molasses did help my ferritin totally.

Maybe try starting with MUCH less and see if you can tolerate it.

TimH, thank you for responding and suggestions. I will ask my dr to write a test for parasite. However I must note that I used to take 1 tbsp of EVCO until early July this year. Just stopped it because I thought it might be the culprit. I have been drinking ACV for several years now, 1 tsp in a big glass of water sipped slowly.

I should have titled my post correctly. My hemoglobin is ok, just at the very bottom of the range, what I have is iron deficiency as my ferritin levels have fallen low, although 9 is actually within the medical range, but is actually very low. I will get the stool tested for parasites in any case.

Anyone improved their ferritin levels with dessicated liver (capsule or tablets)?

Hi Mmsg, thank you for responding. What was your low ferritin level and how long did you take molasses before you saw the good results? How did you take your molasses? Thanks.

If there is anyone out there with low ferritin issue and you have a quick solution to fix it please let me know. Thanks.
