Remedies and Diet Not Helping Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms, Please Help

Posted By Loraine (New York) on 05/31/2018

My husband has been a heavy drinker for over 20 years. He would typically drink at least six days per week and would sometimes go for several days without eating. After a very serious accident recently where he was driving impaired, he's now sober three months and counting. I'm so grateful for his sobriety however, I've noticed that he has become very frail and shaky since he stopped the alcohol even though I have him on a balanced diet/green juice/supplements etc. It seems like he was so much stronger and alert when he was drinking heavily.

Can someone explain why this is so cause I am very confused and really do not know how to handle this. Thank you in advance for any input offered on this subject. Anxiously awaiting responses from all you very caring people on EC.

Hi Loraine - I'm so glad your husband has quit drinking. It's a hard battle but he has you on his side. You are doing the right thing with improving his diet and giving him supplements.

I'm wondering if naltrexone will help him.

Also, there is a Doctor Yourself Web site that offers information on B3 and other supplements that are vital for someone recovering from alcohol addiction.

I wish you both the best of luck. Hang in there! Take care.
