Advice needed regarding mouth infection

Posted By Jodie (Brisbane Qld, Australia) on 02/26/2011

Hi, I have severe infection in mouth. First I thought it was sinus infection as I also had headache on left side and used salt water up my nose, breathed in steam with eucalyptus oil, drank a little ACV, had some vitamin C and B Complex. This may have helped settle it, but I'm not sure. Headache has improved but swelling continues to worsen.Yesterday morning I could bearly talk or walk due to increased pain when doing so, but this has now settled. I've had to take panedol etc to get by. Top left side of my mouth (gum) is all swollen around the teeth and the left side of the roof of my mouth. It is very painful and to put pressure on my top back tooth with my tongue causes pain, The top back tooth does seem to be the seat of the pain. I also have some pain in bottom gum but not as bad as the top. I am not able to eat due to the roof of my mouth being so sore and am having coconut cream with raw egg drinks to get me by. I am breastfeeding. I can't get to doctor or dentist for a couple of days. I started oil pulling with coconut oil yesterday afternoon as I have been surching for remedy. Should I go to the hospital? I am concerned infection will get out of control? I don't take antibiotics but maybe I need to this time. Hoping for your opinion? (I cut out sugar (fructose) some months ago.
Many thanks, Jodie

This could be a little dangerous for your baby if you are breastfeeding. It's better to see a doctor right away.

When I eat spicy food it really iritates my cheeks inside my mouth along where my teeth meet on each side of my mouth. After going to the dentist he told me they would have to cut a piece send to a lab to find out what it was but he didn't feel it was anything serious. How do I get rid of the burning sensation when I eat? thanks

Hi! I love this site!!! If I ever have a problem, I come here first!!

Recently I burned the roof of my mouth pretty badly. A day later it seemed to be healing just fine, however; I became very ill. I am recovering from my illness, but the roof of my mouth has yet to heal and now feels much worse.

It started out as feeling a little inflamed and now it feel like a large cut. It seems like there is a big scap on the top of my mouth where the ridges are. It is right behind my teeth on the left side. It is now spreading back further into my mouth. I was thinking about going to the docters but I would rather just use a natual cure instead. Help me please!

I would go to the doctor just to rule out an infection. When you know what you are dealing with, then you can pursue natural remedies.

Hi Caitlin, I would start taking large doses of vitamin c to help with infection, inflammation and to help with speed healing. If you can take lypospheric vitamin c that is even more effective. You can order it on Amazon. It's powerful stuff! Quite a few people have been writing about this here on EC. I learned of it from a doctor. He said it's as effective as Vitamin C IV therapy.

Also, do sea salt water rinses to help heal and prevent infection. It too, is a powerful remedy. It can be painful since you say it's like a cut but it's also extremely effective.

Hope this helps. Lisa
