Posted By Umm (Madina, Saudi Arabia) on 03/20/2011

hi all, please I need urgent help/advice on how to preven or minimize scarring in my 4 year old daughter's body. She was involved in a domestic accident in which hot boiling water poured on her from the neck down. She was give immediate treatment and was on admission for 2 weeks. The wound is healing fast and some parts have started to scab. We were given silicon sheets to stick on her, but I want to know if there is a folk remedy I can use on her to minimize the scarring. We are africans and scarred parts of the bdy tends to turn out darker than the other parts. Any advice/suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

You could try puncturing some vitamin E capsules and applying to the healing skin. Try to get the non-synthetic form - I forget which it is. Someone here may know.

Get some active manuka honey - 16 (it's expensive but worth it). It not only heals burns, but it does so without leaving a scar. Usually it's applied immediately after the burn, but I'm sure even at this stage that it will accelerate the healing process and reduce scarring. Just dilute the honey with a little bit of water and rub liberally all over the skin.

P.S. I'm really sorry that this happened to your daughter.
