Hi I have gone through chemo and radiation for a lump in the side of my neck, I think it was in my lymph node. They (the Drs) said it was cancer, it's been 3 months since my treatment. I still have a hard time swallowing. I'm on pain medication. Doesnt help much. Anyone have any info on what I can take to get rid of this sore throat? Hi, I have (or my Father has) a similar problem right now. He is 80 yrs old and just finished 5 days of radiation for lung cancer that has spread to his brain and lymph nodes. He finished on May 10th and now he is having a lot of trouble swallowing. It seems the thinner the substance (like water or juice) the more trouble he has. I guess he liquid goes down his throat too fast and his swallowing mechanism can't keep up so it goes down his windpipe. He chokes and coughs constantly when trying to eat. He has tried "Thicken Up" added to his water and it worked, but then he tried to eat eggs and couldn't. I guess I'm looking for ways to help him and also any info on how long these side effects generally last? His cancer is terminal but I would like him to be able to feel somewhat better as the sideffects hopefully calm down over time. Thanks.
