21 Month Old Daughter Has a Hard Time Sitting Still

Posted By Jae (Baltimore, Md) on 12/18/2009

Hi Ted, I need some help. I have a 21 month old daughter. She is #3 and the baby. She is also extremely active, she doesn't like to play with toys but is into everything and has a hard time sitting still. I have tried natural calming drops and they do nothing, i tried a little benadryl one day and nothing. She goes to bed at 7 and Thank God for that because I literally chase her around all day long. She doesn't eat sweets, i try to feed her mostly organic she has veggies, kefir, yogurt. I am wondering if i need to eliminate gluten. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jae,

I empathise with you on your tiring time that you must be having with your children especially with your hyper active child. I have a child now, 19, who used to be such. She could never stay her attention on anything for more than some minutes. She would always want to do something different. When travelling long distances, she would always start complaining that the journey was not ending.

I am just a parent like you who has gone through the same and would suggest that you allow your daughter to get active with different activities and have friends who can join her to make it interesting for her.

My daughter, though not as hyper active as she used to be is still pretty active and she is a national spinter for 100m event.

I wish you all the best. Keep your chin up.
Myke
