13 year old son very self conscious about keloid scars

Posted By Aussiekaren (Dubai, Uae) on 02/15/2012

My child has very large keloid scars that are a result of chicken pox when he was 3 years old.

Over the years we have tried silicone patches and gels, homeopathy, naturopathy, herbal creams, nutritionists, ayurvedic medicine and visited laser specialists, plastic surgeons and an immunologist.

The scars continue to grow as nothing we have tried has made a difference. The main 2 on his upper chest are joining and will measure roughly 7x3 cm.

My son is very self conscious about the scars and desperate for help to stop them growing. The last 2 years have been the most active, I guess as he hits puberty and has a growth spurt.

I have read about tea tree oil and lavender and would like more information on this treatment and any other suggestions you may have.

Thank you.

In reply to Aussiekaren from Dubai: Have you tried using aloe vera creams/gels? I've heard a lot of successful stories of aloe vera creams that has diminished these scars. I am in Dubai too and can suggest you a good aloe cream - email me at ruby010166 at yahoo dot com.
