Turmeric Helped Daughter's Leaking Heart Valve

Jeshu (Albany Australia) on 08/15/2024

Turmeric helped fix our Daughters troubles with her leaking heart valve.

Since birth our daughter has had a leaking heart valve, which she has been operated on when she was just 6 months, to save her life. For years all was well, but as she aged her valve began to leak more again. Our daughter lost her energy every year a little more. In the end just a little walk had her squat down to rest ever few hundreds meters. The doctor felt it was important to give her prescription medications to regain better heart function and hopefully some more energy.

However the heart medications, though they worked a little restoring her energy, made her very depressed nd she lost all enjoyment in life. So we began to look for alternatives to use and came upon a sufferer successfully who used turmeric as heart medication.

So we tried turmeric with a little black pepper, 1 tsp Turmeric with 1/20 pf tsp of black pepper, as well as the supplements CoQ10, Cardiochelate, and Colostrum, stopping her prescription medication.

Our daughter regain a lot of the energy and stamina she lost, and within days got over her depression, and now enjoys life again, every day, to the fullest.

Turmeric for Nausea, Cluster Headaches

Jeshu (Albany, Australia) on 08/15/2024

Turmeric fixed my daily, mediction hardy nausea in days, and my cluster headaches in just 14 days.

i have been using 1 tsp of Turmeric, with a little black, and Cheyenne pepper, 1/20 tsp, as well as Olive oil, 1 tbsp, mixed in a little warm water, twice a day, and have been completely cured of persistent, medical hardy nausea, from which I suffered daily for many years, up to 12 hours of each day.

Also my often severe cluster head aches, that came daily at the same time, lasting up to 6 hours, have been completely cured, using Turmeric for just a few weeks. (Each day, from day one, the pain became less severe, and the duration of the head aches shorter.)

Turmeric Remedy for Head and Neck Issues

Head & neck remedy, throats & cough esp

Years ago, I did lomilomi training with auntie Margaret Machado. She believed in turmeric! She said “anything for the head and neck, include Turmeric” in the remedy that you recommend. I get a small jar of honey and remove some, replacing it to the top with ground fresh turmeric. Whatever hot tea I choose to make, I add 1-3 spoons of this mix. Sometimes squeeze 1/2 lemon. It’s very comforting. And I’ve noticed quick results when I’ve used it with myself and others. I keep this jar on the top stove ledge so I remember to use it. J

Turmeric for High Blood Pressure

Judy (Australia) on 09/12/2018

I would love to say turmeric has been beneficial for lowering blood pressure but since taking it l have hardly slept a wink in 2 weeks. I usually sleep very well and only took between 1/4 teaspoon or a little over of turmeric powder in a small amount of water. Perhaps it was the brand, albeit a well known one, but won't take the chance again.

Hawthorn seems to be much more agreeable in my case so will continue to take that, which is mentioned in Shane Ellison's Over the Counter Natural Cures. It really is a brilliant book and I would highly recommend it.

Turmeric Side Effects

Every time I try to use Turmeric, within a week I end up with nose bleeds. I know that bleeding is a side effect but wondered if there was any way thing I could do or take to avoid the nosebleeds as I want to be able to use it for a bad case of Folliculitis. If not, is there something else I could use in its place for Staph Infected Folliculitis? Thank you all!

Turmeric for Allergies

I started taking turmeric mixed with coconut oil and black pepper diligently two months ago to help me with the inflammation in my body. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it.

All of my life I have been extremely allergic to cats whereas I was unable to stay in anyone's house who had a cat longer then 5 minutes before I started to sneeze, eyes started to water and ultimately ending in an asthma attack.

Something very interesting happened last week when I went into my neighbor's house. She has two cats. I am never able to step over the threshold but on this day I did to help her move a piece of furniture.

I was in there for a while before I noticed that I was not suffering. So when I got back home I went over the major changes that I had made in my life and the turmeric concoction was the only one that surfaced. So, Yes, it does work and for that I am GRATEFUL! I have suffered for 35 years with horrific allergies and now I am at peace.....

Turmeric Side Effects

I wish I could say I have a positive outcome from taking turmeric. I take 3 capsules a day and don’t notice a difference in my chronic pain. I also was getting extreme episodes where I would just break out sweating. I finally found out that turmeric can cause this. Unfortunately I’m going to have to stop taking it. I will try to cut it back to 2 capsules to see if that might stop the misery. Also I read that some people were saying it made them moody or angry, not sure if it’s from that, but I do seem moodier since I''ve been taking the turmeric.

I had recently found that wheat germ oil is very readily absorbed by the skin and does wonder for your complexion. I decided to mix some tumuric or cucurma (french) into the oil and spread it on an achey thumb and also all over my face and back of hands. Tumeric is supposed to take away colour/age spots so that's why I did that. The pain in my thumb went away quite rapidly so I think the wheatgerm oil is a good carrier. I must start eating the stuff too.

Homemade Turmeric Extract

Rsw (Oh) on 10/28/2017

After many years of reading Mama to Many’s suggestions for making homemade extracts, I decided to give it a try. I bought turmeric root from the local health food store, washed it (did not peel, as was suggested online) and put it through my salad shooter to grate it. I added a little more than a tablespoon of black peppercorns to the mix. A little over a cup of turmeric was then covered with two cups of 40% vodka. I made it on October 1, and have been shaking it almost daily.

My question is, how long before I strain it into a bottle, and how clear does the liquid have to be to prevent mold growth? (although the vodka may take care of that! ). Do I also need to put it through a coffee filter after the white cloth? I imagine I should put it in a small amount of water before drinking a dropperful, as I do with the HerbPharm I bought? Is it OK to keep it unrefrigerated in a dark place? Thank you! Any advice would be much appreciated!

Turmeric Helps Inflammation, But Makes Me Feel Strange

Cheryl (Pittsburgh Pa) on 04/02/2017

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I've been taking 500 mg of Turmeric-Curcumin 500 mg a day capsule, the brand is available over the counter. It helped with arthritis pain in my knee within a week. But by the third week, I was starting to feel, at certain times of the time, a little weird. Similar to the overall feeling I felt when I was on Zoloft for several months about twenty years ago. Not dizzy exactly. A little pumped up. Not in a dangerous way, and it continued as I kept taking the same dosage for three more days - I have now decided to quit taking Turmeric-curcumin, which I regret because it was helping with the inflammation. I don't know why it did this. My family doctor okayed me taking it and said it couldn't hurt me since it's all natural. Any ideas why I felt this way? The effect wears off by late afternoon. I'm definitely going to stop taking it because I don't like feeling out of myself. Not dizzy exactly. Not dangerous. Just a little off.

Turmeric Feedback, Dosage and Advice

Holly (Toronto, Canada) on 03/09/2017

In response to a post from 2012:

Posted by Emma (Europe) on 11/08/2012
Does anybody know how much is safe to take of tumeric for inflammation. I see you can get 400mg tablets/capsules. Also would it be safe to take with medication. Thanks

I've use Turmeric powder for years with huge success for numerous health reasons.

I use it for inflammation, pain, to detox my liver, eye ( macular degeneration ), cancer prevention ( had 2 previous cancers ), neuroprotective agent, H. PYLORI, anti-oxidant properties, anti-bacterial properties, indigestion, sleep deprivation, colds and flu cure and prevention.... just to name a few.

As for the dosage.....well in my opinion that depends on a person's blood pressure levels.

Typically my daily dosage needed is only 1/4 tsp along with 1/8 tsp of black pepper ( black pepper increases the bio availability ) as turmeric is not easily absorbed into the body without it and you would need a ton for it to actualy be effective in any way otherwise.

However, if I caught a cold or flu then I would take the dosage two times per day, once in am then once in pm ( basically 12 hours apart ) along with a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt ( will explain salt in a bit ).

The best way for me to take it has been in a bit of warm low fat lactose free milk, but I also love it in mashed potatoes, soups especially cream of mushroom along with 2 cloves of garlic ( always waiting 15 mins after crushing the garlic to release the allicin which is the actual healing good stuff ) .

I won't take capsule form due to the fact that it's less expensive in powder form, I like to put it in lactose free milk or soup or mashed potatoes, capsule form doesn't include the much needed pepper for bio availability either.

When I first started taking turmeric, about 10 years ago...I started with 1 tsp. ( some times more ) and for me I had no beneficial results and instead felt lightheaded and generally unwell but kept taking it thinking it needed more time to work. I was wrong, turns out that less is more and not only that but it turns out that it was considerably bringing down my already low blood pressure which is why I had been having all the lightheadness and general unwell feeling because for me it was bringing my blood pressure to dangerously low levels.

Now the reason I add a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt to each dosage is if I catch a cold, flu or my body is in some type of viral crisis and I need to take 2 daily dosages so then to ensure my blood pressure doesn't bottom out I add the salt.

I found all this out the hard way, so if you are one of the rare ones like me with low blood pressure then I wouldn't suggest exceeding the daily dosage of 1/4 tsp along with 1/8 tsp of black pepper.

If however, I do get high blood pressure in the future then I will at least now know to increase the dosage in order to bring it back down but otherwise I will keep it at the same effective and safe daily dosage for me.

As for the drug interactions question, this is what I have found: Medications that slow blood clotting (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs) interacts with TURMERIC
Turmeric might slow blood clotting. Taking turmeric along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding.
Some medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

I personally would also be concerned with any blood pressure lowering drugs and/or supplements, herbs that lower blood pressure when taking turmeric in too large of dosage.

Hope this helps to answer your questions.

Turmeric Bath for Swollen, Infected Gums

Kate (England) on 01/24/2017
5 out of 5 stars

In the last four days, I've had an absolutely enormous swelling on my gum - until finally it was about the size of a golf ball, and very painful because stretching the skin. Among the zillion things I tried was some turmeric and water over the gum, which didn't do much, probably because I left it there only half an hour, and the gum was so distorted by that point that it wouldn't really stay on. I also tried lancing it, to no effect, and assumed most of the swelling was inflammation.

Finally, earlier this evening and very miserable, I jumped in a bath with 5 or so heaped tablespoons of turmeric, more to warm myself up than anything. It felt great, and shortly afterwards, the whole thing burst - absurd amounts of pus came out and my face is now back to normal.

I'm not assuming the infection is necessarily completely gone, and I'll be doing a few other things to make sure all is well. But the relief is incredible - pain has stopped completely - and I thought it was interesting that a load of turmeric applied to just about everywhere except my gum seemed to be the thing needed to help my body eject the worst of the infection. A turmeric bath is where I'll start if I get something like this again.

Turmeric for Colds and Sinus Congestion

Turmeric has been amazing at easing sinus congestion when I have a cold. I take 1 turmeric capsule every 5 hours when I get a cold and do this for 2 days or more, depending on how I feel. It keeps mucus production down to a minimum. I tell my family to take it but they just ignore me. Go figure!

Turmeric and Gallbladder Issues

Here's a question for those that might know: I started taking turmeric tablets about 6 weeks ago with wonderful anti-inflammatory results. Over the last few days I have stopped because my gallbladder flared up and my research seemed to indicate that turmeric could be the cause. I see that it is actually recommended to help gallbladder issues... How do I use it for the best result? I don't want to "dose" myself into surgery but I would love not having the inflammation...

Turmeric for Shrapnel Wound 23 Year Ago

Ric (California) on 07/30/2016
5 out of 5 stars

Today, I had an old injury come back to revisit me and finally say goodbye. Four days ago I started taking Turmeric, I had read under cures for gray hair one of the readers reporting her hair color coming back after treating herself for MRSA with turmeric. So I had some turmeric and decided to use it all up. Twice a day, morning and evening, I started taking 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric mixed with black pepper, flax milk and also 1 tablespoon Black Strap Molasses, also a gray hair cure, followed by a spoonfull of some kind of fat like coconut oil or peanut butter.

Something unexpected happened on the 4th day, 23 years ago I had a small firearms accident, where a .22 bullet blew up as I was trying to chamber it. A small piece of metal shrapnel embedded in my skin on my belly and the injury healed over with the metal inside. Today, the small piece of metal worked its way out to the surface. Turmeric or coincidence? 23 years and no improvement, I start one of my alternative treatments and I started noticing my old injury after the 2nd day. On the fourth day I noticed like a big pimple over the old injury. I squeezed it and it opened up. I cleaned out the area and the tiny fragment of metal came out with it. I have no answer for this but Turmeric does have anti-inflammatory properties. Maybe the Turmeric aided in the shrapnel in finally working its way out of my skin? Or was it just a coincidence?

How to Take Turmeric

Amanda (Bath, Uk) on 07/18/2015

I take turmeric in the form of a cooked paste made with organic cold pressed coconut oil and freshly ground organic black pepper. My understanding is that the oil helps with the bioavailability of the turmeric and the black pepper helps to keep in in the system for longer. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory as well as analgesic, antiseptic etc., and with that in mind I personally would avoid taking it with honey as honey is an inflammatory.

I take my turmeric paste for aches and pains and eye problems all associated with Graves Disease. If I miss my Tumeric dose I find that my eyes become extremely uncomfortable and I get increase joint pain.

I must say that several years ago I had multiple boils, coming and going frequently. The worst was where I had previously had a bartholins gland excised and it kept swelling and subsiding and then swelling back...I measured my days by that gland and when they swell, they sometimes get huge (you ladies Know! ). I read about turmeric then and started taking it...I would take about 1 tsp at a time with water (neat) and could immediately see the swelling go down...I would later take antibiotics for something (I don't remember what) as drs are so apt to prescribe them and it finally went away only to reappear when I recently became infected again after some intestinal problems, was given antibiotics again and the story goes on.....

Thanks and God Bless to all who write in with their stories!

I use turmeric powder straight from the pantry to make a tea for my allergy symptoms. I boil a cup of water to which I add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and a pinkie-size bit of ginger which I crush, skin and all, into a soft, mushy state before putting it in. Once it come to a boil, I take it off the stove, strain it and add one tbs of organic apple cider vinegar and one tsp of locally sourced raw honey. Blend and sip. I just made it this morning and itchy eyes, sneezing and runny nose just went away half an hour later. I also use the neti cup morning and night and sleep at night with a humidifier with five drops of 3 per cent hydrogen peroxicide. These do help but I truly feel that it is the turmeric-ginger-vinegar-honey combo that lets me get through the day.
