Cat distemper treatment
I cured my kitten during a serious bout with distemper by fasting her and giving her drops of lemon balm tincture every couple of hours. I also got three bags of saline from the vet to avoid dehydration.
Juliette de Bairacli Levy recommends fasting for distemper in both puppies and kittens. The vet talked me into forcing her to take some vitamin paste, and she got much worse. Then I fasted her with the herbal drops and she was mostly recovered in a couple of days.
Colloidal Silver for Cat Distemper Abby (Bismarck USA) on 10/02/2024

We have been using 100 ppm colloidal copper to take out distemper for our cats. For teen-ager cats 3 drops twice daily for a couple months got rid of it. They have grown up and had another generation of kittens. (We found that if given to a very young kitten it did not help; their body didn't seem to be able to handle the copper.) This time, a kitten is not getting rid of the mucus. He has good appetite but is limited in activity by the poor breathing. We have tried drops of people over-the-counter liquids for mucus but the taste makes it impossible to give. Any ideas on mucus busting for a cat?

Remedies for Canine Distemper (New Pets Page Created, Thank You!) Regulator555 (Grand Rapids, Mi, Usa) on 06/02/2010

My dog had an incomplete vaccination history (found this out after the fact). He contracted distemper. Outlook - certain death. He was, prior to the illness, fed a raw diet (we think this helped). Anyway, he stopped eating, drinking, etc. He would drink my expressed breast milk. It kept him alive. Also, we massaged him down twice a day with 10 drops tea tree and 10 drops lavender mixed in a 1/2 cup of a carrier oil. We also boiled water and put 5 drops of tt and lav. in it and had him inhale the steam once to twice a day. We thought he was a goner, but we kept at it. It's been almost a year since that and he is alive and strong!
