My dog contracted kennel cough from neighborhood dog. Cough gradually was getting worse after a weeks time. Found this remedy and it worked after one dose. I dissolved 1 tsp. of raw honey in warm water, added a few more ounced of water to total about 6 oz. Then added 3 drops of store bought hydrogen peroxide. He wouldn't drink it so a broke up pieces of bread in the bowl with it and he lapped it up. Coughing stopped immediately and didn't return. I did give him a second dose about 6 hours later to make sure. That was 1 month ago.

I rescued a 12 yr old shihtzu 1 week ago. He had the kennel cough nose vaccine that day. I saw it given. He started coughing the next day. I found this peroxide, honey recipe and it worked. I had the mixture in the drinking water for all my old dogs. 5 total. 1 week later Snicks is not coughing and the others show no sign. I do rescue and have clavamox and doxy. He did not need the meds. I will share this w/my rescue friends. You must follow the recipe and get food grade hydrogen peroxide for safety. I know how much $ I saved using this. Give it a try!

( the regular kind) and she has caughed a little. But is know sleeping. Again thank you!!!

OMG I have spent over 600 dollars in vet bills trying to fix this problem that I have been dealing with for over 3 mos. And I tried this less then an hour ago and both of my dogs are not coughing anymore. Thank you so much. I also took all of their toys and washed them as well. Thanks again Vickie

This works like magic! I think my poor AmStaff "Vegas" contracted the cough at the vet yesterday, and she was so miserable because she couldn't stop coughing and gagging. I kept giving her honey to sooth her throat. The honey would work for an hour or so, but then the coughing would start up again. I thought I was going to have to take her to vet today again (another pet bill) until I stumbles across this site. After reading all of the positive feedback of giving dogs HP, I decided to give it a try. It has worked like a charm! (so far)...

I gave her the following mixture:

3 drops of 3% HP

14 oz of water

1 tsp of honey

1 tsp of lemon juice

I soaked some bread in the mixture and fed it her, and the rest is sitting in her water bowl. She has not coughed since I gave this to her. It's amazing. I wasn't expecting for it to work, but it did!

Thank you for all the posts. This has been extremely helpful me and Vegas.

I just used 3 drops of peroxide method for my 3 dogs, lab, pit bull, and a rott and I am amazed at how much better they are doing. My pittie was really bad and he actually can get up and walk around without hacking. Thank you for everyone's input on this website it helped me. There is no way I can afford 3 vet bills and 3 dogs on antibotics right now.

Brought my dog home from a weeks stay at a kennel we've used before with great success. Even though he was vaccinated, he developed Kennel Cough (diagnosed thanks to an online vet service). Last night he was up every 45 minutes coughing until he wretched. It was a long night. about 2am I found this site and was willing to try anything for relief for my poor buddy.

I mixed a teaspoon(-ish) of honey with a half capful of Hydrogen Peroxide (standard 3% - righout out of our medicine cabinet) and a bowl of water (several cups), slightly heated to make the honey dissolve. He didn't take to it last night, but sometime this morning he started drinking it. by this evening, his cough is all but GONE! He is acting more and more like himself, albeit tired from a long hard day yesterday and last night. But he hasn't wretched all night. Praise Jesus! And thank you for this suggestion.
